AMD 3400+ @ 2.2 will bottleneck 7800Gtx?

I was just wondering im thinking of upgrading my graphics card from 6600gt to 7800gtx.

iv got a 6600gt and i know it will make a difference in my graphics but i only have a 2.2ghz cpu so will that bottleneck a 7800Gtx?

My specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3400+
1Gig of RAM
Nvidia 6600gt

ATM, no CPU will ever bottleneck a graphics card, u could have like an intel AMD XP 2500+ and it wouldn't bottleneck two 7800GTX 512mb in SLi. If u don't trust me, ask Flanker.

EDIT: Also, the clock speeed of a CPU doesn't matter for AMD, a 3400+ is like equal to a 3.4ghz P4, and beats a 3.4ghz P4 in gaming.

well my opinoun is a cpu wont bottle neck ur GFX but i recommend buying 2gb of ram if you u want to use the 7800GTX at full graphics!

CPUs won't bottleneck your vid card? Everywhere I have read has said that the new 7800s are being bottlenecked by the low end CPUs. Throw in 2 7800s, it's worse. I'd like to see official links proving the CPU doesn't bottleneck the latest cards.

I think it'll bottelneck, I've read for 7800 gt 3500 amd is good, for gtx even higher, at least in synthetic benchmarks like 3d05, for games I don't know I have P4 @ 3 Gzh which should be enough for majority of games, but my 3d05 score is only 6570 with 7800gt

Well, I had an intel 2ghz Cpu and it bottlenecked the crap out of my old 6800GT, 3dmark, games, etc were running at about half the frame rate of when I got my AMD 3500+. Now with my 7800GT I see no real gains in gaming between 2.2ghz and 2.6ghz on the cpu. Not definitive, but pretty telling. The difference between the 2.2ghz and 2.6ghz in normal computer operations is night and day though.

I know I said we underestimate the power of CPUs but they aeren't THAT good, lol. No a Athlon 64 3400+ won't bottleneck a 7800GTX, but an Athlon XP 2400+ would bottleneck anything above a 6600GT. Its complicated though. A Athlon 64 won't bottleneck anything below GeForce 8s, but if you got a Sempron 64 2800+ (1.6GHz, it would bottleneck a 7800GTX) and overclocked it to 2.2Ghz (easy peasie) it wouldn't bottleneck 2 x 7800GTXs. Its kind of hazy territory.

You'll be fine though. Especially if you overclock it.

A sempron won't even bottleneck todays high end video cards as long as your run the game at a high resolution.

the only thing is does anyone recomend me overclocking my cpu to get full power?

Most motherboards will allow for at least 2.4ghz out of a 3500+. I got lucky with mine and it can overclock to 2.6

Most motherboards will allow for unlimited overclockability...Motherboards have little to do with how far your PC will overclock.

Well CPUs can bottle neck a video card. But BF2 is more memory and VGA intensive than CPU, so you will be ok, unless planing on playing other games, and also a 3400 is pretty good CPU, so no, you will not bottle neck your card. Would an FX57 do better, well awnser me thin can a mustang beat a Ferrari???
