I think they x850 might be a tad better, but I'm not sure. For nvidia, I'd go for xfx, evga, or bfg. For ati, I'd go with sapphire, ati (obviously), and I guess, gigabyte.

Nvidia just plain and simply makes a higher quality card than ATI. There is a 7800GTX 512 MB card out right now that outperforms anything that ATI has on the market. If you're trying to run this game, Doom 3, Quake 4, FarCry, etc., go Nvidia

x850xt pe will beat the 6800 ultra due to higher clock speeds

agreed the x850 and the 6800 ultra are pretty close in performance, I dont think you would go wrong with either card personally...

here is a cut down screeny at the same res the guy with the x850 is using with the same 4xaa and such

as you see both cards will do you well..

I bought the x850XT recently for a good deal. $250 locally with a $50 rebate. I don't know how much that translates to you, but its a pretty good deal. I like the card. I had a few problems early on, but have since fixed them.

For an AGP card, I wouldn't get top of the line unless you don't mind spending the cash. I'd buy a card to last until I upgrade to a PCI-E system, then get a really good card for that one.

As for the Nvidia and ATI choice, I prefer ATI only because I am more familiar with it. but I may try a Nvidia card once I get a PCI-E system just because I have the option of using SLI.

you keep asking the same questions over and over again, and people are answering them for you.... yes the x850XT PE is faster by about 15% than the x850XT... thats why im upgrading from a 128mb 9800 to the 256mb x850XT PE... just ordered it last night.

if i were you i would do the same..xmas is getting closer!!!
