WOOOT!!....now that some serious overcloaking! damn a 3700+ San diego can be overcloacked all the way up to 3.0 and higher!......so wtf do they sell a FX-57 for again?

EDIT: ok now am starthing to change my mind about getthing that 4000+ ....3700+ all the way.

Cause the FX-57 could overclock to like 3.4ghz if u get a nice one. Anyways, if u want crazy overclocking, the Opteron 146 is crazy. If u get a CABNE or CABYE stepping, it is likely that u could get to 3ghz+ with stock cooling (2ghz-3ghz is a 50% overclock!).

when you have 2.8 or 3.0ghz i think its already extremely fast! when you start hithing 3.2, 3.4 then your just doing it to be the best or you wanna go in the world records :p

WTF are you smoking? The amd opteron 1xx series is basically a more thoroughly tested, rebadged athlon.There is no difference. The optys are cheaper, but better binned, oc extremely well, and are great gaming processors, so please don't spread that kind of ignorant crap around here, because I guarantee that someone will believe it.

The Opteron 146 is infamous for reaching FX57 speeds on the right mobo (usually a DFI/MSI). It costs about £140 on ebay for one 'guaranteed' to reach 2.7-3.0ghz these days. If I was a gamer (and only a gamer) I'd buy a 146 in a heartbeat.

As it is I'm a graphic designer so the purchase was easy: X2. My 3800 is stable at 2600 with 2GB RAM at 230/3-3-3-7 which cost me £115. 3800X2 is a brilliant processor for a great price.

The Opteron 165 is an even better solution though... but AMD stopped selling these and they have become very rare. FYI they are 1.8ghz dual 1mb cores but OC better than their X2 counterparts.

The X2 problem with BF2 is fixable, several ways. It's also a more future-proof purchase as games and Windows (Vista) will start to take advantage of multi-core processors.

I'd still buy an Opteron 146 though if i were u! :P
