Ok, I got a problem. When I look at the Nvidia control panel, there is no entry in the menu saying clock frequencies. It used to be there but it's gone!!! I have recently, last week, updated to drivers 81.94 and I have a GeForce 7800GTX. Anyone know why it's gone?

Every time you change drivers you have to re add the "coolbits" reg value .

as said before, it all depends on your card. I had a 5700, I tried overclocking it, and man, did I make a mistake. Thats why im not screwing with my cards at all.

when I right click on the right pane I dont see any option for adding new Dword collbits, I only see add new Dword value (I am new to overclocking so dont laught at me :) )

If you use SLI put in a value of 1A for all the extra SLI options too, its very good.

im a little confused new to gaming and new to building computers i have not been given a real explantion other then it can help in performance if done right. but WHY Woud You Want to over clock any thing (MOBO, VIdeo Cards, Ram) , wont that decrease the lifetime of it. If anyone can help me understand the true pro's and con's of this topic, i would like to better understand the purpose if possible

after doing this...whats a good way to see if there was a NOTICEABLE difference? i just put mine up about 10 points for each, and i dont want to go further, unless it didnt do anything...how can i test my new settings?

Try benchmarking it , though this wont give you real world performance until you play a game or two and compare for yourself. If not much better just put it back to default. And be sure to monitor your temparature settings the whole time, its not worth a broken gfx card.
