This could be ture, All I know as I used it and lowered it a bit to make sure, and my 7800GT runs perfectly overclocked. So if this is true than don't use detect optimal settings. But I would just to see what is gives you and if its way off take a screenshot and post it here.

wouldn't even use it. I just do it and check/test it each time till it doesn't work. Then run a program after i lower it to make sure it won't crash.

Let me address some people in this post

Death Merchant: You have the same card as I do, overclocking it to the specs I have in the picture work fine for me. If you do the tutorial you can press find the optimal clock speeds and it will automatically find the optimal clock speeds for you.

Jackass: Nothing is illegal on my desktop, Limewire so far is a legal program as long as you use it for things that have a shared license. DAEMON is also legal, and I only use it so I don't have to put in my disk all the time. I'm making a tutorial on that as well.

Thanks for the support, I use alcohol 120 almost everyday, compressing files making backups of my game CD's and DVD's is very usefull. What happends if your office 2003 or windows CD breaks and you need to reinstall??

Every card is different, YOU need to experiment, by raising the clock speeds by say.. incraments of 10, playing a game for about an hour, and if you don't get artifacts or crashing, raise the clock seepds som more.

Once the game starts crashing and you see artifacts, you need to lower your clock speeds.

Uhhhhhh just an FYI people, once you detect optimal frequencies, lower the core clock by atleast 5-7 points and the memory clock around 3 points. This is just what your PC thinks the card can max out at. You don't exactly want to redline a brand new car just because you can, get me? Or don't take my word for it, I had to learn the hard way

I did it, and the stock clock on my BFGOC7800GT were at 425MHz and 1.05GHz, when I used the "Detect Optimal Settings" it came back 468mz and 1.13GHz, going to back them off a couple and crank up BF2 to see if anything changed.

Roger that, How I would love to play BF2 with a core clock setting like that. Yea just drop a couple digits off what the frequencies test detects and you'll still be OCed quite a bit and safe at the same time.

And also, if you people are hesitant to go into your registry, which by all means is understandable, all you gotta do is a search for a tiny app. called Coolbits which is I believe under 2MBs. DL it and run it all it does is make the tweak in your registry for you. Its what I used and it will open up the OC option in your Nvidia CP
