Power Supplies that come with cases are generally crappy. When you get the money, get a new Power Supply. You DON'T want to take the chance.
Thanks, I was gonna say something about the powersupply, but I figured the one that came with the case would be fine, but you never can be too careful.

what are you talking about i have both windows xp home and professional editions and they both support upto 4 gb of physical memory!

in windows xp each application gets 4 gb virtual space. 2 gb for kernel and 2 gb for itself. but that virtual space. we are talking about physical space. the x86 can still use all those 16bit segment registers and each and every segment can be up to 4 gb segments! did you forget about segment registers. did you forget about large memory model in intel chips. for shame. they are still there. and different versions of windows place different limits on how much physical memory windows will use. the fact is that some verions of windows 32 bit which support large memory model can use 128 GB gb of physical memory. with each process limited to 4gb virtual space.

Oh in Windows 2003 the 4gb virtual space is broken into 3gb for application and 1gb for kernel. but who cares only servers should be running windows 2003.

Agreed, except for the floppy part, you can get a good DVD+R/-R DL burner for 50 bucks.

Nah, keep the case, it's nice, and you'll regret getting a crappier one. Trust me.

Nope, the more fans the better. My case me sound kinda like a leafblower, but I'll be damned if it doesn't keep everything cool.

Nope, my mobo comes with a live 5.1 standard. If you're gonna get a standalone card, get at least a Audigy 2 ZS.

i have a fan controller. i run my fans slow and they are dead quiet.

Well, if the PSU that comes with the case is from a reliable brand (OCZ, Forton, Antec, Enermax, and Thermaltake to name a few) and has decent amps on the +12v rail, then by all means he should keep it. Thats generally not the case though, and I've had personal problems with a case PSU so I guess I'm biased.

You know what? I don't care. All I know is that people that get more than 2GB and put it in a system using Windows 2000/XP can't get the OS to recognize more than 2 GB of it. After 2 GB, it takes a bunch of tweaking to get it to recognize more (tweaking beyond the capabilities of the average Joe), and even after the tweaking it might not go to the full 4 GB.

i don't use sata. ide is cheaper and almost as fast and for the price i rather have the space. also sata on some boards are nothing but problems. but i admit that they are needed for flashing bios. unless you use windows utility. some mother boards have bios flash utility that runs from windows without need to boot to floppy. also if you flush bios and it fails and you don't have a board which rom version you are toast and going to be buying a new board.

Its a $7.25 floppy drive dude...no need to argue about it.

The real questionis, why are you not using sata? It's faster, doesn't require any drivers (unless you're using windows x64), costs the same as ide, uses smaller cables, and usually is better all around.

what are you talking about. both windows xp home and professional editions support 4gb out of the box without needing to do a thing other than stick the memory in the mother board. maybe they have cheap motherboards or bios that did not support that amount of memory. my motherboard can only address 3gb!.

For BF2 1 GB is not enough! Get at least 1.5 GB you won't regret it. 3x512 should be OK on a 4 slot motherboard. Or better get 2x1GBThat way you should have some empty slots to take your computer to 2GB for use with BF2:SF!

Well right now I am playing with 768 RD RAM and it runs fine on low

Drop the floppy. You don't need one anymore. Save the money and take your girlfriend on a date. ;-)

its only 8 bucks, and I dont have a girlfriend :)

CD Drive. What are you smoking. Or better yet what ice age are you from. Get a cheap DVD or DVD/CD-RW or better take the money you would have wasted on a floppy or your girlfriend and get a DVD-RW/CD-RW.

I really dont need a dvd Drive cause I have another pc that has it and I dont even use it.

You are spending too much money on your case. Just make sure that the one you buy has a good 500W power supply.

I thought a 420W power suply would be enough?

The PSU on that case is OK. It has 18a on the +12v rail, mine has combined 36a on 2 +12v rails (17a, and 19a). So you might wanna look into another PSU, not relaly needed, but if you OC the CPU, it might be a good decsion. When i first bought my comp, i had this cheap POWMAX PSU with a wimpy 15a +12v rail. Died after about 2 months (and it smelled bad for the next week) never get cheap PSUs.

Why MSI? I've owned a couple and I dislike these boards. Epox or Asus would be better.

Windows can address 4gb of ram period...system ram, and virtual ram. If you have 2Gb of system ram, and your pagefile is on say 2Gb... you're at the Windows memory limits. Remember, Windows sees the pagefile as system memory.

The only solution you could try to get Windows to see all of your ram if you had more ram, would be to turn down the pagefile or shut it off. This is all the tweaking you need to do, and It's within the average Joe's reach.

I trust 2 brands; DFI and MSI. Gigabyte is fine too. Generally what I've seen is that low-end Asus + AMD = problems (Actually, the only case that I HAVEN'T seen any problems is with the A8N-SLI). Epox is ok, but I'll go for the best I can for a price range, and Epox isn't the best for the price range.

Then again, to each his own.

Yeah, i trust DFI and MSI, havn't had any other worthy mobos except for ones from them. Although i have heard ASUS is good (as in A8N-SLI Deluxe or premium).
