Windows doesn't support 3 GB, go with 2GB max, its more than enough.

Ya, that was my first working mobo (man i got really bad luck with mobos, one can't install windows, another just dies, finally i got this DFI that works), i was foolish and changed settings around on my mobo to overclock. The mobo just couldn't post from there on, tried resetting cmos, didn't work. BUt that mobo is good, great deal. And it's from a trusted company.

errrr it would be sweet to have 3GB, theres only one minor problem with that motherboard it does'nt fit my case :cry: and the case I picked out is amazing I love it. But thats probably the motherboard I am ganna get, now just to find a new case

Why wouldn't it fit into your case, the case says ATX midtower, the mobo is ATX. And mATX mobos also fit into ATX cases. How does it not fit? plus, at least for me, the url posted is dead.

EDIT: Supposedly the PCI-e 1x can be used for some newer modems, and mini sound cards or something, go check with someone else, add on cards that arn't vid cards arn't my taste. As my computer only uses the PCI-e slot on the mobo and no other slots at all, no sound card that means.

THe one posted was like 9.6x11.9 so it does fit, it's just they reversed the numbers of length and width for the mobo. All ATX mobos fit ATX cases, mATX fits in mATX and ATX cases. ATX doesn't fit in mATX cases. (mATX is micro atx).

Yeah, that's a nice case, i only it could come in aluminum, so it would be lighter. Anyways, i like the gauges for dba, fan speed and ambient temps, i wish i had those already on my case, i'l have to buy one that occupies the 5.25" bay. Also, the duct on the side 80mm fan is cool.

Yea, Eddy pretty much hit the nail on the head (I didn't know mATX fit in ATX though).

It will fit, and like Eddy said, PCIe 1x is used for high-end cards besides video cards (high-end sound, modems, and the upcoming PhysX cards [Physics processors]).

I wish I had that case 0_0 lol...

First of all NewEgg ROCKS, but you can save some money and get it sooner from ZipZoomFly. Check it out and use the savings to get better stuff.

I agree socket 754 is dead! Get an AMD 64 3200+ 939 instead.

I've had problems with DFI motherboard in the past.

Instead of GF 6600 try to get an GF 6800 128 MB 256Bit.


For BF2 1 GB is not enough! Get at least 1.5 GB you won't regret it. 3x512 should be OK on a 4 slot motherboard. Or better get 2x1GBThat way you should have some empty slots to take your computer to 2GB for use with BF2:SF!

CD Drive. What are you smoking. Or better yet what ice age are you from. Get a cheap DVD or DVD/CD-RW or better take the money you would have wasted on a floppy or your girlfriend and get a DVD-RW/CD-RW.

You are spending too much money on your case. Just make sure that the one you buy has a good 500W power supply.

You don't need those little sh*t fans. I tried them and they don't work. Just get a good exhaust fan for the rear of the case. I got a t case that takes a 120mm and it's worth it. Also make sure that there is good intake in the bottom front. I put an 80mm fan in the front pulling cool air in and across my drives and cards. I also made sure that my power supply had a good exhaust fan next to the CPU. That way all the hot air gets sucked out.

One thing you forgot something! A sound card! Get at least SB Live 5.1 or for a couple bucks more a SB Audigy 2 value. If you got the bucks or a good copy machine get a SB Audigy 2 ZS. Don't use your motherboards sound card it sucks. They all do...

I agree socket 754 is dead, but hey why pay more it works. I have one and I love it it saved me lots of money I was able to get an AMD64 3400+ dirt cheap. Better than getting a new socket type and cutting down on the speed. And later in the future when I need to get a new chip I most likely would have bought a new motherboard then. So I lose nothing now. I hate those people who spend a futune on a motherboard for some hope that it will be of value to them in the future. Then when the future comes that technology has been replaced by another.

I disagree with everything you said. Socket 754 id dead, meaning it would be stupid to go with it (no offense, but I seriosuly mean that it would be stupid) when you're got a perfectly good Socket 939 waiting. You aeren't losing money either. Socket 939 also has more features than Socket 754 such as Dual Channel RAM, and better processors (3400+ became a pretty sad processor @ 2.4GHz).

Also, ALWAYS go with pairs of the same amount of RAM when going socket 939 (so NEVER 1 x 1GB and 1 x 512MB, and ALWAYS 2 x 512MB, 4 x 512MB, or 2 x 1GB, or 2 x 512MB and 2 x 256MB ). When you have one or two pairs of RAM running in Dual Channel, it increases performance amazingly.

You aeren't losing money either. Socket 939 also has more features than Socket 754 such as Dual Channel RAM, and better processors (3400+ became a pretty sad processor @ 2.4GHz).

Agreed Sir. MatDef. Floppy drive needed for SATA Hard Drive installation, BIOS flashes, and MUCH more.

Power Supplies that come with cases are generally crappy. When you get the money, get a new Power Supply. You DON'T want to take the chance.
