Its right here you f*cking a$$hole.

THe problem is that most games can't utilize the 48pipeline video card (i'm pretty sure only like 32 pipelines are actually effective). Seriously, TVs have horribly low resolutions (Like the BEST of tvs are hitting 1024x768, which is the highest that the next gen can support) which kinda makes the quality not worth it. Plus, i like mouse and keyboard (plus joystick). I never said that the consoles aren't good enough, as they are whipping the last gens consoles a**es, i just said i'll still prefer PC>over console. Three reasons why, FPS is meant to be played on PC, and strategy games like C&C can like only be played on PC, and flying games are best used with a nice joystick setup. Those are mostly the games i play. Arcade games and sports games are very good on console (i like playing NHL 2k5 on the console, as well as arcade games like FF11.)
You're still thinking in terms of a PC. Xbox360 games CAN utilize 48 pipelines. And graphics still look good on a 30" CRT TV. I'm sorry you don't see a thousand pixels per grain of sand. You know...reality is portrayed on TV...doesn't get much better than that.

As for the First Person Shooters; Yea, they're better on PCs, but they're fine on Consoles too. My friend owns in Killzone on his PS2.

You can hook up a Joystick (and probably a keyboard, gotta look that up though) to a console so that rules that out...

The reason that X360 graphics don't blow you away right now is because its hard to program for them and to use all 6 cores. As time goes on, the graphics will get better without the need for a better video card.

      Re: 7800GTX 512mb is out!!!

      Yeah man,

I hate to admit it, but from what I'm hearing down the pipe, the 360 is going to smoke the PC. Like Flanker said, the structure is totally different. You don't have different components talking to each other. One guy equated it to.....
"imagine if you will...the entire computer built ON the video card, instead of the video card attached to the computer as an afterthought". Then take away any other distracting crap that goes on on a PC NOT related to the game your playing. That's what's happening. As if you could hit Task Manager (for you laymen out there) and not only being able to end every task controllable, but other system items not related to your game as well. Understand that since the operating systems have to be backwards compatible by 4 and 5 generations, there's alot of unnessesary code in there to accomodate these other programs/systems. Sucks. And Microsoft is not known to have the slimmest, fastest code out there.
The games are built on object oriented languages. So you've got a language on top of a language on top of a language. And the computer has to compile this down to assembly language (or machine language or whatever the 2000s word is), then down to binary. Everytime you add another + to the C and C++, your adding more functions built out of other functions. At least that's what happened in Basic to VB to VBA to what....(I don't program anymore)
Now part of this is speculation because I don't know what the console is written in (I'm assuming C+ as well), but I think the compilers might be more simple on the console....anybody know???? I'm not asking for a flame, but looking for polite corrections.

Haha, excellent examples, and I love that person that you quoted

And yea. The ones that really know how the systems work are the ones that explain it the best. I talked once to a guy that worked on the X360 but knew about both consoles, and just by talking to him once, EVERYTHING was cleared up. No one better than an expert.

I would still reccomend he keeps those KOs though, they are still very top end cards with good manufactory overclocks and copper heatsink. BUt it's his choice.

It is supposed to come out on the 22nd, can yu actually buy one now? or is it jsut on display, cause all vendors that release early get will get sued by microsoft. That's what happened with HL2, some places sold it a day or two early, Sierra (the company that makes HL series) got really POed at them. They got fined or sued.

Dude, I'm not gay but......have I ever told you how attractive you are....lol. That's the best news I've heard since building this thing. The question is, are they going to offer the 512 MB like the other companies....particularly within that time span.......
I might be missing part of the post, but I'm assuming that's a different company than EVGA.

For the moment PC's are way more versatile, upgradeable and lets not forget they are way more fun to tinker around with. I have 2 PC's and a PS2 and will be getting the PS3 when it comes out but my PC's will win unless the PS3 is unbelievably amazingly better than the PS2. And no Suxbox 360 for me, I have *some* principles you know :p screw microsoft.

Its interesting that I spent a couple hundred dollars to upgrade my system... that can play COD2 and NFSMW (Two pioneering games for the next gen consoles). It can play them at a higher resolution than the X360 at 60+ frames per second and can still play every other game I have ever bought for the PC, I don't have to pay an extra fee to play them online, and the games have all the tweaking I want.

The hardware sounds like it blows away the PC but most X360s will be hooked up to 1000 dollar TV's that look as bad as COD2 on 800x600 graphics. I'd rather view 1600x1200 resolution from 2 feet away than crappy resolution from 5-10 feet away, who cares what it does to my physiology.

                          Re: 7800GTX 512mb is out!!!

if you go to gamespot.com and watch the review and the new vids from CoD2 (the HD vids) it just doesn't look NEARLY as sharp as the PC one does but other then that, it's virtually the same. Ill stick with my PC because there's WAY more other things you can do on it then the 360.

Im still going to get one but not till early next year when the hype has died and some games I actually WANT to play are out (Gears of War, Ghost Recon etc).

All I want right now is Condemned but should I pay another 500$ to play another game. Not quite yet.

I think later on in the life cycle of the console the games will look amazing but right now (IMO) the developers have no idea how to fully utilize the power and by then PC will be WELL caught up.

                          Ahhhhhh, the neverending war!

Well, if I can get my hands on two of these, I'll sell these 2 still in the box for $450.00 each. I bought these from Monarch and had them overnighted for $615.00 each plus shipping. If anybody is interested, email me.
I'm building a dual card monster off of the new ASUS8N32 Deluxe board this week....spent $6,000 on it so far.....a couple hundred bucks won't make the difference. (don't ask, it's a long story from a past post)

                              Seriously, the offer is real.

PS - I'll post the specs on the comp if anybody cares...too lazy to type it all here unless so.

He paid $615 each, and his is the GTX KO edition. While not worth that much more imo it is the fastest 256 version out. Your card has 20 pipes and his has 24. Apples meet oranges.
