The 3Dmark SLI scores seem to be CPU limited around 14k on a FX57.

I agree. Thats not to say the console market can't and won't take over. I'm gonna fight til the last man.

Yeah, the only way consoles could take over is if all or at least most of the following happens: Breakthrough in console tech, way better controllers, They have to absoultely stop making good PC games, consles have to go at like 200 bucks WHEN they first come out, eventually dropping to somewhere around 75 bucks 2 years later. That isn't likely as Pcs have better games, better controls, better tech, and are WAY more versatile (office functions, internet etc.) Consoles are just for like travel times, as you probably won't be taking yer L33T rig with you to like florida in a hotel.

I mean, console tech that will really break down the PC, like a video card that is at least 1.5x better than PC video cards, or like 8 GB of DDR2 ram in a console, or a 4.5ghz CPU etc. THe Xbox 360 won't mkae the PC much less popular or anything.

The Xbox360 and PS3 are designed in a way that destroys the PC of the current generation and any generation to come. For PCs to be capable of what consoles can achieve, the PC would have to be totally remade (no more CPU speed gotten from the System Bus, no more memory talking to the CPU in the way it does right now with PCs). The graphics card in the Xbox360 is the R500-based "Xenos" which has 48 pipelines.

All in all, a Console > a PC in power. Now if you want to go at the controller design and how a FPS is easier to play on a PC than a Console, then thats fine. But don't diss the console as not being good enough. This new generation's consoles destroy the PCs.

Also remember that the controller and such are all personal preferences.

Actually it is. Check local Best Buys they have Xbox360s set up (some of them). My store is one of two stores in SE Wisconsin that has one. Its awesome looking graphics but honestly, I'm not that impressed. Consoles still have a long way to come before they catch my eye.

That sucks!!!!! I just bought two EVGA 7800 GTX KOs which came in the mail today....literally!!!! I would have purchased the 512MMB had I known!
Well, if I can get my hands on two of these, I'll sell these 2 still in the box for $450.00 each. I bought these from Monarch and had them overnighted for $615.00 each plus shipping. If anybody is interested, email me.
I'm building a dual card monster off of the new ASUS8N32 Deluxe board this week....spent $6,000 on it so far.....a couple hundred bucks won't make the difference. (don't ask, it's a long story from a past post)

Seriously, the offer is real.

PS - I'll post the specs on the comp if anybody cares...too lazy to type it all here unless so.

THe problem is that most games can't utilize the 48pipeline video card (i'm pretty sure only like 32 pipelines are actually effective). Seriously, TVs have horribly low resolutions (Like the BEST of tvs are hitting 1024x768, which is the highest that the next gen can support) which kinda makes the quality not worth it. Plus, i like mouse and keyboard (plus joystick). I never said that the consoles aren't good enough, as they are whipping the last gens consoles a**es, i just said i'll still prefer PC>over console. Three reasons why, FPS is meant to be played on PC, and strategy games like C&C can like only be played on PC, and flying games are best used with a nice joystick setup. Those are mostly the games i play. Arcade games and sports games are very good on console (i like playing NHL 2k5 on the console, as well as arcade games like FF11.)

EVGA has a "Step-up" program that says that if you bought a eVGA video card, in the next 3 months from the original purchase, you can send in the videocard and buy a new one. You will only have to pay for the difference in price.
