LoL guys, its always ram , BF2 is not demanding on CPU , if you read reviews about GPU and CPU power in BF2 you see that if you got AMD 64 3500 the FPS difference between 3500 and FX-55 is maybe 5 FPS,

for BF2 you jsut need alot of ram and a good GPU , and a fine CPU , not FX-55 , not a Pentium 3 , a AMD 64 is fine

What's the best RAM to buy for BF2? I've got 2GB [2x 1024mb] of PQI DDR400 PC-3200 RAM, and I can't run on High with my X800XT Platinum Edition [AGP]. I'll list all the detailed specs of my system below, let me know if you have any ideas for what I should upgrade! -Thanks

That ram should be fine.Sell that graphics card and aim for a 6800 ultra or a x850xt.

how about instead of waiting for the 7800GTx 512 prices to go down just oc a vanilla 7800GTX to 512 speeds I heard that the extra memory doesn't do much like 1-2 fps difference if u underclock the 512 to 256 speeds according to benchmarks?

or if you're willing to OC you can get an X1800 XL and OC it past XT speeds... thats what I did and 350 for an X1800 XT equivelant is very nice

yea but i'm not much of an ati fan so i was wondering if it's possible to oc a vanilla 7800GTX to 512 speeds and have it preform the same as it? other Q is does the "evga" sli mobo any good because I am buying a rig and I don't know if i should get a better mobo like an asus sli deluxe or premium or instead just spend that money on something else like ram or better cooling for ocing.

Nope, there really is no way in hell to oc a gtx to gtx512mb speeds, the 512mb is just that much faster.for example:

Standard bfg 7800gtx
core:460MHz
memory: 1300MHz

Bfg 7800gtx 512mb
core: 580MHz
memory:1750MHz

Thats more than a 400MHz memory speed difference between the std and 512mb versions.

The evga mobo is decent, but I'd go for an asus one myself.

how far u think i can oc a new 7800GTX i have to admit that i never oc'ed anything before so I gotta be careful does anyone have a evga sli mobo and can tell me how it' sworking out?

this makes me sad to here everyone upset about not being able to run on high setting when i have to run on low
but no worries ill be upgrading soon so i can at least run on med
but that wont be for months:cry: when income tax returns
or i could take out a loan:hmm:

thats very strange i have 1 gig of RAM running with 50 bots and on all high with a comfortable 40-80 fps, averaging around 60+

Bots aren't humans, so there is no lag introduced by all the seperate people trying to do the same thing on the same server at the same time.
