    x1800xt vs 7800gtx review

    looks very close to me

This initial gloss over the tech, board evaluation and performance snapshot should have you salivating at the thought of buying a 3D accelerator in the near future. Radeon 1800 XT, via a decently clocked R520 GPU and fast memories, defines the base performance the rest of the X1000 series range will scale down from. From this debut, it's arguably never been better to think about upgrading to PCI Express for graphics, or just graphics in general if you're already on the interconnect.

"ATi RADEON X1800 XL is set to become available over the course of this coming weekend, and the new entry-level RADEON X1300 PRO will also be available next week.

The current ultra-high-end RADEON X1800 XT will become available within three weeks, and our intelligence is that 10th November is the date for mass availability"

Nice, but it's still pricey to compete with nvidia in the non-fanboy section (not inherently a fan of nvidia or ATi).

The 1800 looks to be dominating. I'd like to see a comparison between it and Nvidia's 512mb version whenever it comes out, though.

This is good, despite the availablity of the cards. If ATI can get its act together, it might bring the competition that is badly needed.

Yeah, you two won't need to upgrade for awhile.

look at this, ati owns nvidia in F.E.A.R. SP Demo, but ive always had nvidia, dont think im gonna change.

but this shows the oppisite in Doom 3.

I don't understand how it is better...it has 8 less pipes, its clocks are pretty high but I wouldn't think they would make that much of a differnce.

The fact that you can't use the BF2 Maya plugins for exporting models into the BF2 Editor with an ATI card, would put me off buying another ATI card. I have a X850XT PE and it runs BF2 maxed out like butter....but I'm ****ed I cant export models in Maya as the plugins only support Nvidia cards.

The more pipes, the more pixels output per Mhz right? The higher GPU Mhz, the more pixels output. There are other things such as GPU architecture differences, but this is just a crude example.

Ati have just found the correct balance to outperform.
