Haha my old computer a while ago, was upgraded to an ATi 9200 (which was good at the time,0 and i also upgraded my RAM with 128 MB and one day my dad was on and *FLASH *siszziz *quiet *and a burn smell was in the air, took the computer apart and went into the power supply to find a diode burned out and a chip actually blew apart into two pieces, pretty crazy. Also kids don't open those things up by yourself, there is a lot of livewire in there.

Re: Make sure you get good POWER SUPPLIES!!

I personally use a 3 year old AntecTruPower 430 (430 watt with 20A 12v rail =D). I'm looking at the OCZ Modestream 520watt, because I would like to prep for my next system with a good PSU to start with.

nVidia SLI recommends/requires min 34A on the 12v rail, and 1 PCI-E cord per card, if needed. Also: Watts DO matter in a sense, esp when running a higher end system with SLI/Crossfire. Each some of those cards soak up 60-110 watts of power (the higher number for 6800's/7800) and that can be a easy 200watt used, plus the CPU of 65-85. Then you got other things, like DVD drive, fans, fancy random Cold cathodes...

Also: Putting your system on a UPS(or was it UPC?) would lessen the chance of a power surge killing your system...
