Make sure you get good POWER SUPPLIES!!

    TOP END SYSTEM - £2000

    POWER SUPPLY- £30

THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE WHEN YOUR POWER SUPPLY BLOWS EVERYTHING IN YOUR CASE?

    Priceless.

Processors, Graphic cards EVERYTHING in you comp draws power from a POWER SUPPLY. If this is not up to par then everthing you spent your hard earned money on is at risk of being ruined.

How do you know if its a good PSU?

    WATTS- http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/

Whatever you get from that +50 to 100 then you will find your recommended WATTAGE.

WATTAGE aint too important. What is important is the AMP on the 12V RAIL.

It will normally look like this - 12V 18A. Right now 18A is the minimum you want. Anything under is basically a waste of time, unless you running a very old computer.

For a high performance new computer you will one from around 22-40A.

Here is some reccomended COMPANIES and PSUs.

    ONLY BUY FROM THESE COMPANYS!

-OCZ, bit expensive but high quality and very nice looking.

    -ANTEC, very trusted company.

-ENERMAX, again, same as antec. Very trusted company.

-TAGAN, Not too nice looking but are very good quality.

-HIPER, Look great and are quite cheap.

    -SEASONIC, Generally good.

-ULTRA X, WARNING Some people say that its kind of fluke, you might get one with good rails or some with bad. Look very nice non the less.

Who in the right mind would want a 1KW power supply? Besides the government.
What i like about my 480watt antec PS is that its SLI ready.

forget the intial price how about your electric bill....I mean really

However Noni is right...dont go cheap on the PSU...think of the PSU as your heart, with out it your computer is just a pile of useless plastic and metal...

But a kW is just a lil ridonkulous

Especially when they say it requires 1400W at 120VAC... Add in a monitor and your crazy surround system and you can go whatch your meter spin

I mean dont get me wrong I have a 500W PSU in my machine plus a 19" CRT, a Cambridge soundworks surround sound system, and a external SCSI enclosure with a ICY-DOC raid cage...so I suck up my share of juice....but man if I added that I bet i pop a breaker

I run the SLI system below mighty fine with a 420w PSU.

Thats pretty risky, you should have AT LEAST a 500 watt PSU for SLi, I would deffinitely look into getting a new one. Why would you even risk blowing all of that up, that's like a 2000 dollars computer.
