    Re: New ATI X1800 Bencmarks

This hardwareanalysis crowd have got a thing about ATI, I think I'll wait for another reveiw before I jump to a conclusion. The whole thing is written one sided so I'm a little bit suspisious of it.

ATi only loses out because of the hefty price tag, they shoulda at least put it to 500 bucks to make SOME compition. Note, it only loses to the 7800GTX SLi in every game except for Doom 3. Which means that a X1800XT outperforms a SINGLE 7800GTX in most games, but with such a hefty price tag, only a Super ATi fanboy that has money laying around would buy it, i would wait for hte R580 core to come, it should have more pipes.

EDIT; oh yeah, and it also loses to a SINGLE GTX in some custom Half-Life tests, how could this happen, the rules of game, DOom 3=nVIdia territory, Half-Life 2=ATi territory, i'm just disapointed.

Just because Guru3D thinks it might be a fake test doesn't mean it has to be. And I take all benchmarks with a grain of salt, not just those.. ATI said that the X1800XT hasn't been released to the press. Funny how they didn't say they haven't sent any R520 cores off to the manufacturers.

Either way the most important thing in my view is if the new ATI card has only 16 pipelines. It certainly explains the corespeed of 600Mhz. And part of the reason for the hefty price tag is probably the memory chips it takes to run 1.4Ghz.

              Re: New ATI X1800 Bencmarks

Wait til HardOCP or Guru3d releases thier review. I read that even though 16 pipelines might look low, the sheer high clock of the card, if we went technically and by calculations, it has the same fillrate as the 7800's so...

I rather wait for a *REAL* review. Then we'll see.

If those benchmarks are even remotely close, ATI is going to be on the loosing end of the stick this cycle.

With ATI, you'd have to wait for Crossfire and get 2 X1800XT's, and that would cost way too much, and still not be as good as dual 7800GTX's.
Crossfire will allow you to match any of their cards together. As long as one card is a crossfire card, you can add any other one on. Thios is where ATi will come out ontop for taking their time on releasing a dula VGA solution. Nvidia just stole old 3dFx technology and that is why you must have two of the same card.

Im not gonna belive that test at all, ati wouldnt realese the R520 series if it wasnt better than the 7800, that would be suicide. and second of all they have a X800 xt gcard in the picture above the articlejust look at this

                        same thing right?

OMG, the X800XT doesn't have a dual slot cooling solution. THe X800XT has been discontinued in favor of the X800XL and X850 series, they didn't make them PCI-e as well, you can stil buy AGP ones for 400 bucks on newegg.com, and if you've seen the X1800XT, you'll know what it looks like, google it, it uses a modified Arctic Cooling ATi silencer, it has copper as well. It's also dual slot, but it's much better than the X850XT's cooling solution.

Yep, ATM that's true, ATI priced it way too much to compete with the GTX. The only thing to be excited about from ATi is Crossfire, or at least that's what i think.
