Needs: Complete overhaul

First off, 1-2GB of DDR400, not 512. That will kill you. Secondly, ditch the VIA and get a socket 939 board with the Nforce4 chipset. Then ditch the X800XT, for a 6800GT or Ultra. Or 7800GT if you must. Compared with an ATI card on the same board, the Nvidia card will out perform it.

3000+ with X800 XT= bottle-necking.

Get a 3500+.

You seem to just be going with the popular flow. Simple fact for you:

nVidia=graphics/development card
ATI=gaming card

Nvidia is highly overated. And as for getting a 939 board?

ASUS A8V Socket 939 VIA K8T800 Pro

Also ASUS does not manufacture a 939 board with AGP and nVidia chipset.
