No most other people are mistaken. They confuse graphic quality with performance.
"w00t0rz t3h nVidia c4rd r0xx0rz!" has been heard all too often. nVidia does have excellent graphical rendering and runs graphic heavy programs with ease because that is what its designed for! It is designed for development and graphical design computers. ATI openly admits that it creates its cards for gamers! Their card support alot more graphical functions and animations. For instance, an nVidia card might play a cutscene from a game with incredible graphics but at the slight expense of motion fluidity and possible FPS rate. The ATI card would play the same cutscene with equal graphics but would maintain the fluidity of motion. Let's take a look at the water in BF2. If someone with an nVidia card could post a short video and an ATI user the same thatd be great. If you fire a few rounds into the water in BF2, an nVidia card would render the surrounding water texture brilliantly and it would render the splash sprite well also but the motion of the sprite would be rendered poorly. The ATI card might lose a bit on the graphical side but would render the motion incredibly well. Its the age-old fight of graphics over performance.
