    You should upgrade everything.

Yep, agreed again. You'll need a new mobo to run a nice processor and faster ram. Plus, the vid card ain't too good. Just upgrade everything, tell us a possible budget limit.

I must agree with the above posters. The game relys mostly on the video card and memory and slightly less on the CPU. However, higher end video cards need modern CPUs in order to fully perform.

Not everybody is made of money people, he asked a simple question. I would say upgrade video card for now, BF2 is more dependent on that and RAM then anything else. Just don't get too good of a card because your processor will most likely bottlekneck it.

Yeah, to the tread poster, tell us how much you are willing to spend on upgrades.

But then if he upgrades to another AGP board and better CPU down the road he will be left with a sub par gfx card.

I pretty much agree, if you're going to upgrade, you might as well make the jump to technology that is shaping the future. AMD has set a presedent by using a socket for 2 lines of CPUs, and it seems to be wildly popular. It helps people save money, and adds a slight "future-proof" idea to having a Socket 939 motherboard.

If not, then you will need more ram and a better video card first.

Start off by upgrading your mobo (w/ pci-x). By the way, whats your budget?

The processor is holding the 9600xt back. If you have limited money upgrade the processor ( atleast 300 mhz). If you can afford it both, but with a processor upgrade you will see imediate improvement.

I think anything he upgrades will be bottlenecked by the rest of the system.

                            Re: vid card or processor

You people are on crack LOL. It all depends how much money you got to spend. Either way, upgrading the CPU and memory is a start. I recommend with a AMD Athlon 64 s754 or if you can find a decent mobo with AGP support, a s939 of 3000+, and then adding another 512 mb of ram. Then you should be fine.

However, if you got the money (literally), go for a overhaul of going to PCI-E and the new PSU standard.
