Re: Hell will be raised today at ATI

I was using 5.5 then I upgraded to latest, I think perhaps if I format the HD, I will know if the problem is hardware.

Before you do anything else, go to the client support section and do a forum search on your problem, I know tons and tons of people have had this problem, and your solution has already been found and posted

Nah, don't search, we need a mod or admin to move this to hardware or client support section. Admins, Moderators, are you listening, we need it to be moved, general is a place for discussion of gameplay and such.

          omega 5.6 is your answer.

i was having the same problems as you did. upgraded my graphics card... the whole thing. turns out, THE NEW DRIVER UPDATES FROM ATI IS FOR THE x800x CARD (or something like that). point is, the new driver update is for ati's newest card. for all other cards, using omega's 5.6 drivers results is NO problems. i run mine at high.

well i had to swap my ATI 9200 to an nvidia 5200FX which is basically the same card to play this game

basically BF2 was designed for nvidia cards which i think sucks

Re: Hell will be raised today at ATI

I dunno why you bought the X800 XL. Its performance shows the 9800 XT will outperform the X800 XL (eXtra Light)

Only difference between the 9800 XT and the X800 XL is that the X800 XL has next gen hardware shaders, but the 9800 still outperforms it.

I dont notice anything wrong with my ATI card. Your perhaps one of those rare occurances in which ATI fails, and feels the world should know about the failure of a single card. Believe it or not there are some people who used run nVidia cards telling the same story about how crappy their nVidia Card was.

ATI doesn't give a **** about you... you're alone in your suffering.

Re: Hell will be raised today at ATI

it also depends on who made the card sometimes if it's some low rent company who nobody has ever heard of then that might be the problem

For a long time I was playing battlefield 2 on a GeForce 5200 128mb video card, and it played battlefield 2 PERFECTLY on minimum settings. But I wanted more, I craved more, so I bought a x800 xl 256mb video card made by ATI. It's BRAND NEW! So latly i've been playing, and it crashes to desktop? WTF? So I install latest drivers, un-install and re-install battlefield 2 multiple times, ruling out that the game is NOT the problem, because this never happens with the GeForce 5200. So it's the video card, which makes me VERY upset.

                                Another annyoing fact:
THE GEFORCE 5200 IS NOT ON THE LIST OF COMPATIBLE VIDEO CARDS FOR BATTLEFILD 2! I'm very upset with ATI, and unless they fix this problem for me, there will be hell raised at ATI.

This day will be decalred the day of all days for ATI!
I bought a ATI X800XL/256 and all my troubles went away..

Much better than my NVIDIA 6800/GT256
