More RAM will hurt your 3dMark score.

i thought it would improve the frames per second which would inturn improve the score, is that not correct?

You are incorrect. 1GB will score higher than 2GB.

ok but i have 512 so 2gb will score higher than that right?

are you saying i should not install 2gb of ram and only 1?

For BF2 and other eal world stuff you want 2 gigs, for 3dMark you want 1 gig.

So what made you get a better score if you have the same damn video card
as me, exepte yours is eVGA.... processor, hardrive,....soundcard

My CPU is loads faster than yours, and my vid card is overclocked.

got a bit higher score, OC'd the CPU a bit and got 86093dmarks

                      see

                        AMD64 400+
                        BFG 7800GTX oc
                        2 gigs OCZ Platinum Ram

everything at stock minus the slight overclock on the video card from BFG.

                        3dmark05 score: 8135

EDIT: hearing all this stuff about having 2gigs of RAM makes me thing my score might be better with 1.....weird. How come 3dmark05 works better on 1 gig?

hey, you have a 4000+ ? well those guys OC very easy, just go into BIOS, got to multiplier FSB part.
There you see 12 multiplier and 200FSB .

With your memory (wich is supermemory) your system could handle
                            11 multiplier
                            230 FSB
very easely , this would mean CPU at 2530 and memory on 460
your system will be stable at these values for shure, if you want some more, try 11 multiplier 240 FSB , this means CPU at 2640 and memory on 480 .

Then if your system looks it runs unstable, no prob, then you reached the limit of your memory (not the cpu, those 4000+ can handle more) .
This could mean, or you have reached the true limit of your memory or means you have to put the voltage a bit higher on the memory.

Or you could just do like me, I use normal memory at this moment (high graded mem is in backorder for me) just put the FSB up a bit and let the multiplier be.

For example now I am using 12 multiplier and 215 FSB , meaning my mem is running on 430hz and cpu on 2580 .

Cool, Thanks for the info :)

I haven't looked into OC'ing anything because I just got this system put together and it screams. The bios for my mobo (DFI Nf4 Ultra D) has a complete seperate BIOS (Genie BIOS) for overclocking EVERYTHING. Ill dive into that eventually.

I was just suprised to see that kind of a jump in my score. My old system:

                              P4 2.8h/t
                              1 gig PNY RAM
                              6800GT OC'ed with NV5 Cooler

That only scored like a little over 5000.....now im at over 8000 and haven't OC'ed anything. My wallet is still in the hopital right now though

                                great mobo for OC'ing !!
Offcourse, new system ,don't want to rush the crap out of it, but I confirm to you that your system is OC ready, you have very good memory, a CPU that is ment to be OC'd and thatvid card can handle some more also, your mobo will take this all without any problems
