Image quality isn't going to be that much different, it's about performance, lag, fps..

Not knocking anyone that owns a 7800gtx but its a bit premature for this kind of card. A 6600gt/x800 cards are more than enough to enjoy bf2. Both cards will give you 30-40 fps while playing on high settings (assuming you have the cpu and ram to keep up). If you would rather have 50 or 100 fps go at it but its not going to give you any sort of advantage and 6600gt graphics on high is no different than 7800gtx graphics on high.

          Wiberton,

Its also good for the future, i guess in 1year a 6600gt will be a LOW end card.
A 7800gtx will still be up there (i hope :)), saves money too-

          3 years= 7800gt = £300

3years= Low end cards need to buy a new one to at least keep up= £150 a year= £450

Well, thats how i look at it.

But for BF2, yes, you are right.

Try running a 6600gt at 1680x1050 with all settings high and 4x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering...I bought my cards so I could enjoy the AA/AF at high resolutions for the ultimate combination.

Very true...running at higher resolutions puts the 7800gtx over the 6600gt but in my mind I can't justify paying 300 dollars more for what is, IMO only, a small performance gain. As for future proofing its tough to do with the ever changing technology. If money is no object then by all means go for the GTX otherwise I'd say get the 6600gt, 6800nu, x800 now and then save up and upgrade in another year when the 7800 is selling for 150-200 as it makes way for the new hot graphics card and we start this argument all over again :).
