Haha, my entire PC costs less than what some people spend on a graphics card.

Sure, I might not have a top-of-the-range, 200 FPS-on-high-graphics-settings PC, but I can play any game on the market today, so I'm more than happy.

I was thinking the exact same thing myself when I saw that steam survey the other day. I couldn't get my head round it. It's the same with RAM if you look the vast majoirty only have 512MB to 999MB. Theres only 2% with more than 1GB yet it seems everyone on here as 2GB+ Even hard drive size seems to be around 80GB on the survey. I don't doubt some people have those uber spec comps but I think a lot are talking out their ass. Not just on here though but on a lot of forum sites where people post their specs.

            BTW
            XP 3200+
            1.5GB RAM
            6800GT
            120GB
            Audigy 2

You never buy from them, i thought every gamer knew that. a $3000 comp from dell i can build myself (getting parts from hardlynormals.com.au) for only $2000 (thats aussie dollars aswell). And my one is better becuase 1, i get to choose my case and the case is made for pc enthusiests, i got a better motherboard, alienware and dell and all them put in the cheapest motherboards they can find. I know what im paying for, becuase im building it, and i can also overclock my rig becuase i have good mobo. anyway, a lesson to everyone out there, never buy from any company like dell, acer, aleinware, any company that can advertise in magazines, on TV, or on websites is going to rip you off, its the same with broadband aswell, if you see a broabdand add on TV, stay away from that company. if you cant build your own comp, then atleast go to an online pc parts shop and get them to build it. Anyone in australia, go to hardlynormals.com.au, he has best parts/prices.

              My comp is:

              3.4GHz P4 (550) @ 4Ghz
              Asus P5AD2-Deluxe Mobo
              1GB Kingston Value DDR-2 ram
Powercolor X850XT (OCed to 620mhz core, 640mhz mem)
              400GB of Harddrive (SATA WD)
OCZ Modstream PSU - Peak of 620Watts of power
XP-120 CPU collow with 120mm thermal take fan
Dual-Layer Pioneer DVD burner (16x single/4x dual layer)
              Antec Sonata Case
A bunch of leds and lights and all that for only $3022 from hardlynormals.com.au

you'd pay atleast $5000 for the same thing form dell and you'd get a shitter PSU and mobo....

I hope use get what im saying otherwise youll all be wasting alot of money...

also... with broadband, stay away from 24month contracts and 12month contracts, go wtih 6month contracts or no contracts. Makesure you look at all the features of each provider aswell, can you host your own server, what are the scess downlaod fees.etc

I own an Alienware and I paid 1000 bucks less than you with pretty comparable specs. Given I bought it a year ago but it still rocks any game out there. I'm sick and tired of PC building fanboys knocking people who buy from namebrand companies. The truth is they build solid computers and cover their PCs with warranties that will upgrade any parts of your computer that break to the latest and greatest component on the market. I've built many PC's for myself in the past and I just wanted an Alienware, if you have the money they are well worth it. So stop taking jabs at people who buy from namebrand companies, you don't see anyone who owns an Alienware making fun of PC builders, so why should you do it to them? Grow up.

Thats because some of us with bigger drives want to partition it so that the operating system files are only on C: That way if you ever have real big problems you could just rewrite the backup of your C: drive to fix any problems...

The way your running it, If I decided to drop a bunch of rootkits that run in safe mode there is no way your gonna get rid of it without wiping your entire disc.

If someone ever did that to me all I got to do is press my backup image of C:

Man I wonder is some of you are bullsh*tting about having them. If you read the freaking label its not GXT, ITS GTX. Most people who have them would know, if you got a good excuse then I'll believe you, but half of you are making dumb mistakes meaning your bullsh*tting about owning them.

Yeah its major Eye-Candy, thats why nVidia built the 6800 series and is persuing a higher achievement with the 7800 GTX. Without EPIC we wouldn't be having the 6800 untill next year.

the 7800GT doesn't do anything better for you than the 6800GT. It's mostly designed for home theatre use, and 75% of the technology on it is the same as a 6800GT. Save 200 bucks and go with the 6800's for gaming

No point of wasting your money on the 7800 since its not much better than the 6800. Another vid card will come out in not too long and it will be far better than both these cards. Don't throw away your money if you just bought the 6800. But if you have a crappy vid card and you want to buy the best one, obviously go for the 7800. But, value-wise the 6800 is great.
