    Very low budget PC build

    Hello everyone,

I am willing to build a rig for upcoming amazing games like:

    Battlefield 3
    TES Skyrim

And also for the games: Witcher 2, Assassins Creed.

Those are the kind of games I play mostly.

I am thinking of buying an Amd Phenom II X2 565 3.4Ghz Socket AM3 Black Edition OR AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz Socket AM3 Black Edition

I have a budget of 300 bucks, yeah you heard it right.

I am thinking of a system built without a graphics card, mainly because the building process may spread to 2-3 months until everything is in its place.

So 300 US dollars it is.

    This price includes:

    Motherboard
    Processor
    RAM
    PSU
    Case
And also a little bit of a harddrive, not so important at this stage but I have to run it.

I could not decide on the motherboard because I want to have a motherboard that I can use for at least 4-5 years with CPU and GPU upgrades.

Basically I need these in a Motherboard:

    USB 3.0 support
High heat tolerance (I will probably do some overclocking)
At least 1333 Mhz, preferably 1600 Mhz default support for RAM
8 GB support for RAM, more is ok too
    RAID support
At least two PCI slots for SLI or Crossfire usage (3 would be better)
Few harddrive slots (2 is enough more is ok)
Core unlocker systems and such would be good too.
I do not know if it would be good or bad to have an integrated GPU on the motherboard, if its limiting the upgrading better not included.
So I need a tech geek motherboard like myself.

    PSU:

    Stabile PSU

Can be 450 Watts for the system we build now I can upgrade it later but I want it to be able to deal with an over average GPU.

    Case

I need the case to be easily accessible with enough slots for fan and cooling.

    RAM

2 gigabytes of RAM to start with but I will be adding on to these so they should be good for long run.

    Waiting for your replies.

300 bucks and you are asking for a rig that plays BF3, The Witcher and Skyrim?
I think you've got to save a little more...

If you can see I did not include GPU and additional RAM. I will add GPU later in few months.
I do not get it, the post says it all. You did not read it thoroughly?

Yeah I know, but you should really hold off of buying anything now and just buy it all together when you have all the money. New stuff should be hitting the market by the time you have the money.

Re: Very low budget PC build

The problem is that I will not be having more money than this to spend on a new rig. Maybe an additional 150 dollars for GPU and RAM upgrade. And when the topic is about motherboard, RAM and CPU then they would not change that much in 2 months would they?

Motherboards usually go for 2 years at least for an uptodate gamer.
          RAM same.
          CPU surely 1.5 years.

          So what do you think?

Anything is really gonna hit the market in 2 to 3 months?

I cant do it. I tried, but in order for me to go that low, I have to select some low end equipment that is questionable or sacrifice items like low memory or lower wattage power supply that may not run your video card when you get that.

Of course, Im picky on parts. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

What is the cheapest website I can find for it? Newegg? Is it really the cheapest or should I look for ebay?

I will have it shipped to a friend in USA then he will ship it to me so shipping restriction is none.

Your best bet is just to use that 300 dollars for a PS3 or Xbox because those consoles will run 2 out of those 3 games you mentioned. Only because the Witcher 2 isn't made for consoles.

I checked newegg and there is:

                  Motherboard+RAM+CPU= 300 bucks

I can disassamble my old case and use my old PSU for a while.

                  Is this a good choice?

Wait until the new AMD CPU is released before buying, there might be price cuts to get rid of old stock. Releasing around Q3 so you can save a bit more.

I would also suggest holding off for a bit. You aren't going to get a working gaming PC for $300. The problem is, as Crunch said, you are going to have to go for some parts that may not fit what you want in the future. If you buy them all at once, you will be able to match up every part you need. And if you wait long enough, more than likely a line of new products will be released and the prices of the ones you are looking at will drop.

I find its hard to beat newegg prices myself. Sometimes Amazon can beat it. Ebay could, but you gotta watch the shipping and handling. People like to sell something for $10 and S&H is $14.

I added the processor that you provided, but this is what I had for you with a lower end processor and it came to $332. With your processor the total came to $407.95:

So this is just mobo, RAM, processor, and power supply. If you use your power supply, you have to be sure its the correct pinout. If your old system is not ATX, it may not work. Also, if the wattage is real low, that may be a problem. I dont know though.

Yeah I heard about them, you are right. They are going to release this new Fusion CPUs. Hopefully this month they will be released and there may be price cut like you said.

Well good advice but that is why I only wanted to buy PSU,CPU, RAM and Mobo at first. Cause I can get a 2 gigs of a series and later add more RAM. I can use onboard GPU for 2 months until I get enough money for a decent GPU. MOBO and CPU are very critical at this point. Motherboard itself carries all the system to following years right? So, it should be good mobo plus good CPU. They are my highest priority. GPUs are easy replacable, I can also stick up with my old HDD for a while even tho its only 80 gigs lol.
I will wait at least a month tho until the new CPUs are released.

Well I need 750 watts for a crossfire ati GPU system right? In the future I might be adding one and then another GPU.

Is AMD really worth it btw? This CPU I linked is the second best they offer but in benchmarks its way behind intels. Cant find an Intel CPU with lower price and more performance I assume, right?

Cant afford 400 bucks right now but in a month maybe prices go down. I can afford a max of 320-330. Guess it will go tight with PSU. Better find a case from a friend lol.

Yeah, right now in most reviews Intel is beating up on AMD a bit. That doesnt mean the chips are bad though. You can still get a higher end chip that will run a game very well, even though it doesnt blacken the eye of Intel.

I dont know what the wattage requirements would be. We would have to add everything up on a wattage calculator and see what the budget is. Running two video cards takes up the juice though.

I think everyone knows I'm an Intel and Nvidia guy. I dont hide it. The thing is though if you have a tight budget and you can afford a high end AMD chip, you should go for it. There is nothing wrong with AMD chips. Ive made computers with, and worked on, many AMD chips and they do very well. The important thing isnt that they beat up intel but that they are stable and can play your game on high settings and with good FPS. I think if you like AMD then you should go with that brand and instead of comparing Intel to AMD compare AMD to AMD and make sure that high performance chip does better than its cheaper last generation counterpart. Sometimes they dont.

The Intel iSeries is pretty beefy, but instead of looking at the latest i7, maybe look at the i5 or i3. i5s are a nice middle ground. This one is a quad core:
