So my complaint here is, that software companies stop making products for older equipment. I have no problem with them supporting the new stuff. Im all for advancement. Im just sick of them making my current equipment useless thats all.

Give me one other reason for not continuing to support older machines. Besides them trying to force everyone to buy new stuff.

Im just pointing out the conspiracy between software companies and PC makers. And im sick of it.
There is no conspiracy. You just need to adapt to the fast pace of the computer world.

Sure there is... If there wasnt, there would be software in development that i can run on my PC. There isnt. And I would see software sections in the store for different years of PC's. Games for DOS, XP, Vista, etc. etc. The 1 gig section, the 2 gig section etc. etc.

Instead all there ever is, is software for the newest systems (the systems they are selling)and everyone else is out of luck.

Theres nothing to adapt to, all they want is me buying a new system every year. And they try to ensure that by cutting off all software support for the systems they sold us last year.

edit: Yes there are still games in developement for older consoles, i still see the odd new game coming out for my playstation2 for example. Atleast theres some support for older machines still happening. That said, it could be better in the console world aswell.

there's plenty of software that will run on older PCs. you choose to play the leading edge latest games, then you must be equipped to do so. but you can always play casual games that are targeted to run on older PCs.

btw, what the heck is the specs on your so called obsolete hardware?

You're being deliberately obtuse. If you choose to believe that the entire technological community is out to get you, you're right. They sit and wait to see which busted-assed PC you buy and then design their next game around something more powerful. You need to duct tape plastic wrap around your house and then duct tape tin foil around your head. (or was it the other way around...) That way they can't sneak in and read your thoughts.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you, right?

I have a 1900XTX sitting around my place somewhere. Do us a favor, come pick up the card for free and stop crying.

Re: What do you guys think system specs for BF3?

I first played F.E.A.R. and BF2 with a Radeon 9550. I added aftermarket cooling and overclocked the WTFPWNBBQCOPTERSAUCE out of it, but it was still a Radeon 9550. (480 core 225 mem from 250 core 200 mem. Hey, it had weak RAM modules on it!)
                I also had an AMD Athlon 3200+ XP(not 64-bit) that I overclocked from 2200MHz to 3000MHz.
I ended up playing through a bunch of games again once I bought my 7800GT and then again when I bought my 8800GTS. The games that the 8800GTS couldn't max out I played again with my GTX280. I think it's fun to revisit my older games with new hardware to see what they were supposed to look like. For games like F.E.A.R. it was a totally new experience going from 30FPS at the lowest settings to 60FPS(w/ vsync) at the very highest settings.

I guess the point is, if you buy the right stuff you can get even a lame budget PC to last quite a while. I got the 9550 in 2004 or so and used it until early 2006. Two years from a sub-$100 GPU even back then?

If you wouldn't have bought a crappy PC in the first place, you wouldn't have these problems. I bought my computer 2 and a half years ago (for about $1000) and there isn't a single thing I've been unable to run on it. I'll be getting a new computer this year as my family will be getting my current rig for TF2 and other stuff, but it will still last many years ahead. If it struggles with a game, lower the settings a notch and keep playing.

Instead of giving up PC gaming completely, you should man up and ask for some advice from honest people the next time you need a new system. PC gaming doesn't have to be expensive at all. =)

You can't trust salesmen for anything. It's better you learn it sooner than later.

When the software ppl stop support your hardware that's a sign that your pc should have been upgraded a long time ago !

No there isnt, thats my entire complaint and why im fed up. I cant find any casual games targeted for older PCs, anywhere! I wish there was casual games being produced, targeted for older PC's.. My PC wouldnt be a useless hulk now if that was the case.

All the shops in town only have games for the latest new PC's. None of which my older PC can run... And i cant find anything anywhere about any new casual games coming, that my PC will be able to run.

You don't want "casual games" you want outdated games. Go into the clearance boxes in the gaming store, im sure you'll find something that pleases.

QUAKE GODDAMN LIVE AND BATTLEFIELD HEROES

if you don't want games like that then shut up and stop complaining because you wasted your money to a crappy PC that can't run anything, even though you had the possibility to use your money more wisely and have a PC that could run today's games easily.

I built my PC oh say... a year and 6 months ago? Maybe a bit less?

You can check the specs to the side. I got a lot of parts for free from my brother, who's an avid PC builder himself, but total I think it would have cost around $800-$1000 at the time I built it.

It runs Crysis fine on high (bit iffy on ultra high) gfx and everything else PERFECTLY smoothly on highest gfx settings. I don't see how a PC that cost $1000 could be obsolete in 2 years unless you bought a really sh!tty PC.
