Infact it doesnt even meet min requirements on a single game in the store. Why? Give me one good reason why theres no software of any kind for older machines? Not that my machine is old..

Im not saying there shouldnt be progress, but this is just a pure rip off. Theres no reason to stop making software for older machines, except to force consumers to buy new machines.
Until 2 weeks ago, I was using an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. This CPU was released in Jan 2007, so it's over 2 years old. It was more than powerful enough for even todays games. Also, I had an 8800GT which is just about 2 years old. Again, it won't play new games on max graphics, but it's more than good enough for a lot of games.

It boils down to the fact that you made an awful decision in your purchase which is why you cannot play anymore. Seriously, buy a Wii and move on :p

Re: What do you guys think system specs for BF3?

Did you build your PC, i bet you did. Well guess what, the majority of PC gamers dont. And if you think they should, then you just excluded 99% of the gamers out there. If you cant see that as being a serious problem then i dont know what to say.. People shouldnt have to build a PC to get a decent machine and good value.

Like i said, im sick of being ripped off. And its this exact attitude that people deserve being ripped off if they arent savy, that will kill PC gaming. Because the vast majority of customers are not gonna start building machines. There gonna get ripped off in the stores like me, get fed up and stop being customers. Just like i already have.

And the only reason its even a problem at all, is because i cant find any new software for the perfectly good machine i already have. So the real problem is software companies no longer servicing older customers.

Go ahead name me one good reason for this, except they are conspiring with PC makers to make everyone buy a new machine every 2 years or so.. I would still be using my old 386 if i could still buy games for it.. thats why.

going mid-range is the smart choice. that's what i've been doing. it lasts 3-4yrs then when you replace it, you don't feel so bad about the money you spent.

Re: What do you guys think system specs for BF3?

My whole point here is, no one should have to replace a machine because they cant buy software anymore for it. Im not against progress or better machines, im against being sold a machine and then after 2 years its no longer supported in anyway. No software no nothing.

How would you like not being able to buy gas or parts for your car after 2 years, soley to force you to buy a new car. Thats whats happening here with PC gaming, and im sick of it.

Shouldn't you be raging at OEMs such as Dell, HP etc... for using old parts and charging loads. Plenty of people can play todays games, hell, progression in terms of graphics is quite slow at the moment, Crysis still offers the biggest challenge to graphics cards and it's quite old.

Anyway, we get the point you're sick of your old PC and games, so please go buy a Wii.

                Obviously you dont....

No im not sick of my PC or games, infact its great and works perfectly. Only thing wrong with it is i cant find games in the store to run on it anymore. And if i buy another PC, same thing will happen again in 2 years or so. Like i said, i already have 3 PC's that all work perfectly, only thing wrong with any of them is lack of software to buy for them. Im not buying a fourth PC... Im sick of being ripped off by the PC game industry with this forced obsolecence nonsense.. It no wonder so many gamers are switching to consoles.

So i'll spell it out again, im sick of them not supporting anything but the latest hardware. Thats what im sick of. Im sick of going into the store and not being able to buy a game for my machine. Any game...

Anyway, developers if you want to sell me a game, how about making it for the machines people already own... Instead of ones they dont... You'll find sales will be much higher if you do...

Re: What do you guys think system specs for BF3?

You have a good point Bunwhacker. That is one of the reasons people have gone to console. They dont have to worry about OS or updates or will this work with that. Someone with a console KNOWS it is going to run on their console.

Its a simple, watered down PC. They are. As they keep adding features it will be like that even more.

You do have to replace consoles and upgrade every few years and chances are the games will not run on the new generation, but thats usually after 4 to 5 or more years.

Price and lack of honest salesmen aside, people dont want the hassle that a PC can give.

You want the best bang for your buck ? Build the machine yourself. Should save you easily 6-700 in parts. If you want to take it another step then overclock it.

I got the Q9550 on sale cheap (stock 2.83) i am running it at 3.77 easily on air without even touching the voltage yet. Temps never go above 50 on a full load for hours (gaming).

There is the compromise of configuring and ordering a PC online. You can see the difference to the cost that each part makes, research your options, and build your ideal PC (without having to build it yourself). It isn't as cheap as building your own but much cheaper than High Street crap.

Oh yes they do nowadays. It's easy to pick good parts and put an assembly for the PC if you can't be arsed to put the pieces togethers yourself. And PC shops have pretty good gaming packages with no ripoff prices but you're always better off with your own picked parts.

Col.Bunwhacker, I'm calling shenanigans. If you bought a lame eMachines PC at Best Buy 5 years ago, stop crying about advancing technology. My wife's PC started as an HP Pavillion Media Center PC back in 2006. It started with an AMD 4200X2 and 1GB RAM. Since then I put an 8800GTS G92, 550w PSU, and another 1GB RAM in it for about $200 total. So counting the original price and upgrades it was about $1000. I don't think that's too bad for going on 5 years of service. And she still plays BF2, L4D, Crysis, CoD WaW, and the Orange Box just fine on decent settings at 1680x1050 for all of them.
If I had taken the time to build it myself, I could have gotten much better for much less money. But it was for my wife while I was getting ready to leave the country and didn't want to have to perform long-distance tech support.
You get what you pay for, and a little research goes a long way. Do you buy a car without looking up reviews online? So why would you listen solely to someone working on commission when buying a PC?
I once overheard a Best Buy employee tell someone that Iron Man for PC was the same version as the Xbox 360 version only with better graphics. I had to step in and save the kid from wasting $40 on a total piece of crap. Those salesmen don't really know anything about the tech they have to sell. They just have to push it on people.
Learn to think for yourself and you won't be screwed by people who are only paid to screw you.

Im not crying about advancing tech. Im fed up with the industry making my current PC obsolete. My ONLY problem is, i no longer can find NEW software made for my 2+ year old pc.

So my complaint here is, that software companies stop making products for older equipment. I have no problem with them supporting the new stuff. Im all for advancement. Im just sick of them making my current equipment useless thats all.

Give me one other reason for not continuing to support older machines. Besides them trying to force everyone to buy new stuff.

Im just pointing out the conspiracy between software companies and PC makers. And im sick of it.

Do they make any games for the original Xbox, N64, PSone, Gameboy, Dreamcast, Saturn, or SNES?

Did you cry about that, too?

It's not a conspiracy. It's advancing technology. Developers want to make games that fit their vision. Running a game in DOS doesn't fit that vision, so they raise the requirements until the game fits the experience they are trying to create.

They aren't going to water down their games to fit your archaic hardware that was obsolete when you bought it.
