X*8 motherboards always are expensive as they are the top of the range motherboards (obviously with exceptions such as skulltrail and nvidias SLI variants). When they create the P55 motherboard (if thats what they call it) they will basically be cut down versions of the X. The lower end of the Nehalem chip doesnt look too outrageous from what i have seen, should be sub £200 initially which is completely normal. Once the early limited stock is gone the prices will do the usual £10-20 drop. Even DDR3 is starting to come down into decent price range although all of this is irrelivant as we havent seen concolusive evidence of how much difference these chips actually make yet.
