Why from Taiwan? Computer stuff isn't any cheaper there due to tax policy and currency exchange.

He says it's roughly £20 cheaper there.

Sorry I forgot you guys are in jolly old England. Be aware. CPU sold there are usually OEM tray. Be sure to get a boxed one and compare price before purchasing. Retail are done mostly by cash, and warranty is not for foreigners.

My dads in Taiwan atm and he visited a hardware shop and they were there in boxed retail, for rougly £85..They are £110 here..i know its not that much of a difference but i thought why not....:)

Nice....... I've just heard that the rebuilt electronic market just opened in Taipei. Retail business model is considerably different there. Small business owners do survive there because the amount of scam and fraud going on. E-tails are through postal service, not banks. People who request tech support usually hull their own computers on scooters to the stores. So the retail stores are in constant bleeding profit margin warfare. Now new electronic mall is opened, so the small business who now rent the store front (usually very small by US standard, but comparatively common in Asia) all want to grab customers as many as possible. There are two ways to make money: you either sell electronic and computer stuff, or you blow the bubble of store front rental/ownership. So a discount on rent and retail price is going on to attract customers. It's a win-win-win-win situation for the land owner (actually the city hall and the BOT operator), store owners, customers and the government.
