If what cloakster said is true, why not just SLI two 8800GTs? You can get them for like $350-$400.

By the way, which nvidia card will be like an equal to the HD4870? And, would it be worth buying the HD4870 for a 1280 x 1024 resolution or not so much?
Here in the UK things cost a lot more than the US.
    for example a $50 game costs £30, about $60.
So working from that ratio, of 5:6 US:UK, it will cost 5/6 of $900 which is $750.

Yor prices are way off the GX260 and 280 are $650 a peace. and the 8800 GTX is 250 so you might as well for $500 buy two 8800.

I bet the price is that high because ATi has not released there product yet. Nvidia just wants to make as much money as they can until the competition kicks in with as powerful product, but 50% cheaper.

IMO the biggest rip off in GPU history...

          GTX 280 is $650
GTX 260 is $450, might drop to $400 I think. If the GTX 260 is equal to 2 8800GT's, which I've heard, then why not get SLI GTs for about $300?

if the 4870 drops in 150 below the GTX280 and the benchmarks show improvement over the 280's they will sell off the shelves fast.

in most of the reviews ive seen the 280's arent much better than the 9800GX2

Well.. I'll just wait until the HD4870 comes out and decide on which video card to upgrade to then.

I cant wait for this price battle..Nvidia have dropped the price of the 9800GTX to compete with the 4850.....And then the 9800GTX+ comes out soon too...not really sure of the difference but it has a + so its probably another £50 on the price tag, knowing nvidia

It's a die shrink to 55nm which allows higher clock speeds due to increased efficiency.

has physix onboard aswell i think,

4850 for UK £140 on OcUK will be cheaper on Scan when they get them.

4850 is competitor to 8800GT? Also all the 8 and 9 Nvidia cards will have PhysX anyways, don't make your decision on just that.

                            What will 9800GTX+ compete against?

                              The 4850 outperforms the 8800gt.

No, I meant in value. Give it a while, and it'll be down to 150 I hope. Didn't the 8800GT start at like $250-280?
