    Microsoft XP Sp3

FYI this should be released tomorrow March 24th 2008!

I'll post a direct link and more info as the Official Release link and data is sent to me.

Now that Windows Vista service pack 1 has been released, all eyes have shifted to Microsoft's plans for Windows XP service pack 3, the final package of updates for the trusty OS. And, according to at least one source, Microsoft will roll out XP SP3 next Monday.

According to the file description notes, Microsoft will release the final version of XP SP3 on March 24, but the 5503 test build passes all Windows Genuine Advantage checks and is able to download Windows updates that previous XP SP3 builds weren't able to, which suggests that it could, in fact, be the final RTM build.

Umm you weren't expecting DX10 for XP were you? Cause that isn't going to happen.

SP3 for XP is mostly updates but it did adjust the kernal somewhat for more performance.

MS aint gonna support a competitor browser for their updates...

hence why you have automatic updates and IE (it has its only use)...

Microsoft has also delayed RTM for Windows XP Service Pack 3 to provide sufficient time to incorporate feedback from the beta testers. (In other words, they can't make their original deadline!
I swear MS really knows how to smack people around with this SP for the last two years.

But, if they had not delayed it, no doubt there would be bugs, and people would complain about those. So it's better they withhold it until it's ready.

I've run every test pack and now currently on RC2 which is hinted as the finished version. I've not seen any problems on 4 computers thus far or heard of really any major bugs. I'd say if this recent news is on target we will see it around Patch tuesday in April.

Running it on 4 computers isn't testing every aspect of the patch. To fully black box test RC releases, you need thousands of computers, each different.

LOL I know, just giving you a idea of what I've seen but the results is about the same from others within my Dept/field.

I was pretty sure it was going to release today but it would appear even after 2years they are still having some 2nd thoughts about a solid release date. I will tell ya this, its mostly updates rolled up but with the kernel changes its enhanced the load/unload times of XP along with some applications having better response.
