I bought it on PS3 for £32 from ShopTo, mainly because the PC version has GFWL and I just don't see it being anything other than a port imo

take a look at the section on the steam forums, but there is a lot of rage, I think its safe to say its grounded in console territory

It's worth it. Capcom has been on the ball lately with their PC releases. SF4, RE5, and now DR2 have all been great.

Visuals and gameplay are great, probably want to use a controller though, depending on your preference. KB and Mouse do work ok though.

What if I activate it on Steam, does it still use GFWL? And if I don't, do I have to be connected to GFWL even if I want to play SP?

You cant. The game is taking enough resources that is hard coded into Windows 7 to pop up and warn you about it. Ive looked into it and havent found any way yet.
