My History teacher's idea for a project: Have everyone write 10 Pages on their stance to an issue (not going to be listed for political reasons) and when everything is due, take the class period to have everyone in class fight over their ideas.

I hate this idea so much.

I hate this idea so much.

Teacher's are all new-agey these days: write about your opinions, how it makes you feel, blah blah blah.

They're not difficult by any means, but are just a waste of time, imo. I'd rather write a good ol' research paper that's 20 pages long instead of a 10 page one about how an issue makes me feel. What history are you even learning by writing about your opinions? You already know them!

I always find it hilarious when I have friends who are like Juniors in high school and complaining about how difficult everything is because they're taking an AP class or two. It's really hilarious. I sometimes wish I had an easy workload like they did. :p

The problem with assignments like that, at least for me, is that I'm indifferent to most of what's covered. Most of what I get is asking for your opinion on something which has already happened and which arguing over wouldn't change a thing; therefore, making it pointless.

Why can't you pay for concurrent down/up bandwidth usable for uploading or downloading at any ratio? So if you wanted you could pay for 10Mbps and switch from uploading (1Mbps/9Mbps) to downloading (9Mbps/1Mbps) to a balance (5Mbps/5Mbps).

Is there a technical limitation to this?

Typically, business class broadband works the way you're describing. The main reason they usually don't do that kind of thing for residential connections is
1.) Most residential users don't need upstream bandwidth for much, so why bother?
2.) Most people wouldn't know the difference or advantages/disadvantages of modifying their bandwidth
3.) It's a logistical problem to have to track that data.
