no its ment to blow air in to the heat sink and take the fan of and hover out all of the dust its lags soo much wen deres dust in it i did it the other day it makes it stop lagign!!!!!!!!!!@!!!!!!!!!! fan blows air in to the heat sink!

Lol dude...take care you pc man...take case out and clean the dust cause dust is your enemy and so heat. The dust make heat! Okay? so..my suggest get a dust remover spray...Or you could go buy water liquid cooler which is pretty expensive but hey it worth it. Also by the way PT 4 sucks bad. (BE LOVE WITH AMD!)

well for a pc which is a couple of weeks old, i dont think there would be any dust, there was barley any under the fan and none under my heatsink, my pc is new.....i have intel pentium 4 two CPU's 3.06GHz, 3.06GHz 2 gigs of ram and a nvidia geforce 7300 LE (512 memory) to be ohnest i dont think its dust, on my old pc i have a AMD 900mhz with 1 gig of ram and my CPU never over heated, infact when i ran bf2 it only increased about 7C. could it be PT 4 are ****?- let me also quote my old pc has about 5 fans and my new one has 1 cpu fan, 1 case fan wich is doing nothing because its blowing out cold air from the back, so im sure the case is not getting that hot!

why would one more fan help? i mean the case fan is blowing cold air out the case. there is something wrong. my mate has a PT 4 also but his doesnt do it!

Your right with one thing - your CPU shouldn't be gettting that hot.
With that sort of processor, it shouldn't be working that hard.

Stupid question though: are you overclocking?
That could be a really good reason why it's spiking so high.

More fans would help a little, but in this case, I think you just need a better CPU fan. So what if HP won't do it for you? Buy a new gaming fan for about $50 and install it yourself. Comes with instructions and everything.

but i know my fan is cappable of cooling my proccesor, since it hit 4700 rpm....and plus its name is in the lines of speedy fan or sumink! no im not over clocking, any more ideas

ive never seen a car wich has the thurmal fans on the outside of the radiator, there are some that have a fan for the air con condencer on the outside n ive worked on alot of cars to know

Maybe its an Oz thing then my friend, its a lot hotter over there than here in crapcoldrainyland lol

We generally have the fan outside the rad, to help the sleet get into the rad nicely so it rusts quicker :)

Edit:
To the op, my cpu is a P4 (D) 3.6 and it idles at 64 degrees although I have never had problems with it (yet!).

so if urs in blowing the hot air away your cpu is going to be F*cked

i think i know how a pc works, the heat sink transfers the heat from your cpu upwards away form it, ie, you don't want to cook it then the fan does blow the hot air away upwards agin and ie the case fans does the rest, do you really think that the cpu fan blows air at the heatsink ? if so go look it up
