exactly how many Amps do you suppose, then that the 8800gts is going through, given that the mfg suggests a minimum of 400W and >26A on the +12V rail for the system.

"Put it this way. The 8800 GTS plugs into a pcie 16x (or x8) slot and has ONE pcie power connector. That means it can draw a MAXIMUM of 150 watts - as each provides up to 75 watts max.
Divide this by 12, and you get 12.5 amps on the +12 rail. Even presuming a 20% flux, for overclocking, etc. that is still only 15 amps. But unless you really overclock it, you won't even hit the 12.5.
That is why quality in more importan than quantity. Nvidia and oems give bigger numbers than necessary to help account for poor quality.
