actually there is no advantage of pcie over agp right now...

Nor will there ever be unless a game uses all the bandwidth that AGP 8x has to offer.

I upgraded to PCIexpress because they were cheaper cards at the time and offered a future upgrade path. I say get off of AGP as soon as you can.

Hi wreck, if your there, i'm back (you gotta remember me, dont you, i havn't been here in months) anyways, yea, PCIe is the future of graphics cards. No performance advantages, but all the good cards are in PCIe, it's kinda like socket 754, if you got it, it's no worse than socket 939, but the best you can upgrade to is a 3700+, while with S939 (and eventually AM2 when they get some damn 65nm chips out) you can upgrade a LOT.

You guys know that X is always used for cross. For example, street signs sometimes say 'Ped Xing' that means 'Pedestrians Crossing', and of course xmas, but that's Christ, and not cross, but it's close enough.

And the only reason why a 7600gt is better than a 6800gs is because of clock speeds.

Also the 7600GT uses it's pipelines more effectively than the 6 series.

Oh, sh*t, another n00b mistake since i've came back... anyways, 6800GS is no longer in stock for AGP at newegg, neither is the X850XT, you can get a X850Pro, or X800GTO (only good AGP left). And firezip, ur running 16 pipes on the 6800GS, didn't know it could unlock from 12 to 16 pipes... ANyways, it's not just higher clockspeeds, it's got a newer 90nm core (G71 or G73, can't recall which one).

Yea, i think 7600series is G71, and 7900series is G73. (and 7800 series is G70)

6800gs are really hard to find. I got mine off tigerdirect and it was on the site for a max 2 days. Just keep looking.

nah, not much, still quite competant (better than GS, around the same level as X1800GTO)
