feh, I just installed it over my second harddrive. I can still install games on there, and I bet I could access the files from both OS's, since that's how I have the Microsoft Office 2007 beta set up right now.
As for Vista: Eh, new OS's don't excite me that much. I suppose security is one of the "features," but you literally have to click "Continue" each time you run a program that might modify your settings. I had to go through this whole security thing just so I could access the "Documents and Settings" folder through windows explorer. And there's also a TON of programs running, around 45, which eat up over 800mb of RAM and 3-8% of your CPU. But I was able to disable a bunch of em by disabling some services, so I guess it's ok. As for the Aero UI, eh, I uess it looks slightly better than the current one, but it does seem to react slower than XP. And the nvidia drivers have almost no options, I can't find out how to change screen resolutions or refresh rates, which really sucks because my LCD looks fuzzy if the refresh rate isn't 60hz.
Of course, it is beta, but I think the only reason I'll be getting vista is DX10 :)

Looks like at the moment look like the only improvement is the visual side.

The security feature is rather pointless for some of us here. And to make matters worse, no matter how many times we say it, Microsoft won't program an option to turn it off. You have to live with it until you've seen all the security screens.

50% of the processes are pointless, but running without a certain ones can make Vista unstable, or so I am told.

That's .01% of DX10 poppin' out. Our video cards aren't optimized to run DX10, and DX10 isn't optimized to run on our vid cards. *crosses fingers* There should be an update in a few weeks or so to make it run smoother, but we know how the updates go..........

Ha! But you can kill all those annoying popup messages, here's how:
To disable Admin Approval Mode:

1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click Run, type secpol.msc in the Open text box, and then click OK.
2. If UAC is currently active, a User Account Control dialog box will appear. If so, verify that the details presented match the request you initiated, and click Continue.
3. From the Local Security Settings console tree, click Local Policies, and then click Security Options.
4. Scroll down and double-click User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode.
5. From the User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode Properties dialog box, click Disabled, and then click OK.
6. Close the Local Security Settings window.

It's kinda funny actually, the second ms tries to tighten security all we want to do is disable it.

cool, looks like they finally updated it.

Vista update comin' out in a few weeks. Supposedly better optimized,so less RAM usage, less CPU usage, better interface movement.

Maybe a game as well, but no word yet on what it is.

1. I don't know, I am hopin' it is, but I talk to a dev, and all he said was, we're releasing an update for Vista.

2. More than likely a simple card game, solitare type mess.

how the heck do i burn it? i have the iso downloaded and i have a dvd-r dicsk and a sony dvd-rw rom and when i make it it says no cd in drive???????/ wtf

yeah, I tried to burn mine as a windows bootable disk (cuz they said you could do it at boot) and nero wouldnt let me. so i figured i had to do a normal one, so I just dropped the ISO onto there and burned it,

Well, I used Nero Burning ROM SE, and all I had to do was go to File->Open and choose the .iso. After I did that it brought up the burning window

vista should be done in a few hours but will have to wait till im home to try it and ive to try and find space on my 250's

microsofts version to partitioning & reformatting although if you have vista burnt to a dvd you can just use that disc in the place of the Xp one, perhaps someone who has installed it can give you more info (i aint got that far yet )

Yea ive got the demoof partition, but it doesnt allow you to create them. You have to buy it. Oh well, i guess it will be usefull.
