My vista Review! (screen shots included)

Hi

I today downloaded Vista Beta 2 to replace my currupt and worn out xp home OS. First im pressions is that Vista is so easy to install, Its almost like installing a game. Select the drive and enter you CD key and its off. My machine did the whole install in 30mins on a fresh 120gb samsung drive.

I first noticed how much easier it is to use over the conventional XP. And how well its set out. Although i only have 1 screen shot to show it off iwill have some more later which will be added. For a thats been out no longer than a week i was able to get hold of some drivers. But im unable to get hold of my sound card drivers.

The next thing is that vista looks alot more uptodate and with todays colours (as some of you arty people put it).

Performance wise its not as quick as my xp pro x64, i think its more processor intensive than XP. It alos uses my graphics card alot more so it can create little previews of the boxes on the start bar and when you do Alt + tab.

I will probaly write more as soon as i have abit more of a play with it

But im hoping that when all te drivers are on it i can see what games will play on it :S

im downloading it now... do you have to install it from boot like XP? or can you put it in and install it DURING XP like a program and have both?
so like could I install this on another computer that currently DOESNT have an operating system?
also does the beta have aero 3d and all that cool stuff?

I get 20 fps in bf2 on vista with my 7900 :)

I got 2 fps with my 7600 GT, and that wasn't even with this slightly more optimized version! I may redownload it, just to see how much of an increase it is.

It's just a beta os, you must install it on a separate partition at boot just like xp. I really, really don't recommend installing this over your xp install, as it is a beta (one that uses 800mb of ram at startup) and can fubar your machine fairly easily. Oh and this doesn't expire until June of '07, so enjoy.

well, I get an email from a fellow BETA (or bug tester as we call ourselves), and it says something this:

"oh my god! I stayed up all night typing my (20 page) research paper for my history class on Office 2003. I saved it to a disk, and was goin' to print it out on my laptop (he used his laptop for his BETA Test, and had Office 2007). Well, I stuck the disk in, and it took forever to load. When it finally did load, it was in machine code!"

Turns out, Office 2007 wouldn't work with certain builds of Office 2003. One of the Office devs said it is fixed, so I'll cross my fingers and hope.......

yeh my xp home was rather focked so i put it over the top of it. But i use my xp pro x64 till the drivers are out

i began downloading it, but i really wanted to hear more about it before trying it out. it looks like xp with a new shell, which i can do already. this isn't meant to be negative, just wondering what else is it good for?... the beta that is. i will probably buy vista in the future anyways just for dx10. it's not in the beta is it?

well if u have a second hard drive or one big enough to split then id go for never the less. Some bits to me look like XP but it does seem to operate alot different and has some anoyinh spyware blocker.
