    Which will run BF2 better?

    AMD 64 3200+ or AMD 64 3500+?
Both identical. How about a 3200 vs an FX-57 instead? The answer is the FX-57...by .4 frames. Yes, POINT FOUR as in 2/5ths of a SINGLE frame better!!!!!!

What kind of environment do you keep applying these performance increases to?
It has been clearly proven time and time again that once graphical settings are set to high, and AA and AF being used...there is little or NO performace gain at all between AMD64 3200 and an FX-57 when playing games!

    Here it is again,
part1: medium settings which show CPU gain(NOBODY plays at these settings with anything less than a bottom of the line card).

part2: high settings, AA + AF:

Part2 is the one that is important here. Part1 verifies what you say...but it completely and utterly useless when talking about games and actual settings that we play at. Who the hell uses an x18/x1900 or 78/7900 at those pathetic settings? Nobody of course.

Therefore it is clearly evident that if one has an AMD64 3200 or an FX-57...most games will see on average a whole TWO frames more in games when using AA and AF + high settings.

You guys can claim whatever you want...the results are posted clearly in those 2 links.

CPU speed only matters for encoding/decoding stuff...programs that rely on raw speed only. Not games by any means of the word...PERIOD.

      2. Drivers, no clue if I need to upgrade how do i find out and where is the best place to get them?

      3. Temps how do I monitor them. I spent all this money two weeks ago and I don't want to FRY anything.

      4. Anyway, where do I start? Honestly it sounds like you guys know what you're talking about but if you could maybe set some of the scrap aside and direct me on where to begin with what I've decided to do which is do em both and get another gig ram on payday.

      Thank you very much.
      1. In the game press ~ then type renderer.drawfps 1
or you can just run fraps in the background while gaming and it will display in the corner.

      2. Drivers can be found at the respective manufacturers website. If you have an ATI card go to ATI.com, Asus motherboard, go to Asus.com etc.

      3. CPU/mobo temperatures can be montiored via the motherboard sensors using motherboard manufacturer programs, or third party ones like MBM5.

Video card temps are usually displayed for video cards in your video settings control panel.

      4. Start with overclocking specific sites with easy to read/understand guides.
Here is an example, guys feel free to help out...

Thank you I'll look into this after work today. Mobo means motherboard corect?

Fraps, I've heard this mentioned before but what is it? I really am a newbie to this stuff.

        Thanks everyone!

          Re: How do I overclock?

FRAPS is a little program that shows how many FPS (Frames Per Second) you are seeing.

I guess FRAPS works for some people, but not others. It worked great for all my other games, but whenever I try to use it with BF2, it NEVER shows on my screen...somehow BF2 overrides it visually, I even tryed changing its screen position, but oh well. I just use the ~ built into BF2.

And yes, mobo is computer-geek slang for motherboard. And yes, I use it too.
