I've currently got an MX510 that I'm happy with... EXCEPT:
The damned cheap glue they used to attach the feet to the bottom wore off after only about a month and a half. Logitech really needs to work on their production standards before I'll buy anything from them again.

My next mouse is likely to be a Razor.

You can't turn no quicker then the max allowed speed on turrents now, used to be as fast as you could move your mouse, now my mouse at 2000 dpi (g5) very easily out turns a turrent. So just to let you know that.

Wired are always better then WIRELESS.. because nothing sucks more then the batteries dieing mid fight.

Yeah, whatever.

Playing with a wired mouse: the $*@! cord getting hung up on something at least once an hour. God, how I hated that.

Playing with a wireless mouse: the batteries needing replacing or recharging once every four months.

Besides, my mouse software tells me that the batteries are getting low upon bootup. I've never ever had my mouse go funny on me mid-game.

Wireless wins.

As for response time, my friends who have wired mice have come over and have played on my computer before, none of them ever mentioned anything about having a poor reponse time. I really don't think that's an issue.

Im on me second Copperhead, they take a fair bit of abuse but they really dont like drinking or eating or being dropped to the floor to ofton.
I had a Razer a few years ago so the shape was a bit more easy to get on with than it had been the first time i moved from normal to weird mouse.
What i like about the shape is that my hand is not forced to make a claw to use it, my thumb and little finger nearly hang over the sides spot on the side buttons- however the side buttons are to far back for the size of my hand so i must bend finger or thumb to press the rear buttons which isnt comfortable. I assume the grooves on the main buttons are meant to fit a finger each from there design. however i dont have lady hands so at least one finger tend to hanging over the edge and is made to feel superflues by the design, if you have lost a finger in an accident this mouse may suite you.
It is nice though to be able to have your arm and wrist relativly flat, going back to a normal mouse in the office it rapidly becomes apparent that its not comfortable.
I'll get another one once if murdered this one.

Ive also got a MS Wireless Laser Mouse 6000, its a brilliant mouse, easy to dispose of straight out the window without the hassle of unplugging cables. Wireless is not good for anything but occasional use, the only way they could be practicle for constant use is if you were married to the Duracell bunny.

Yep, when you have been a Logitech-fan for some time you will notice that there are a lot of details that could be made better.. than you test your first razor mouse (you got to test them a long time, not only a day) and find out that these are simply the best gaming-devices.. (<- I did so..) :)

My old Microsoft Wheel mouse was getting borky on the mouse1 button, so I bought a Logitech Wheel Optical mouse.

$26 well spent.

Iam very sorry, but everyone looking for a really good mouse is buying the razor Copperhead. I had all Logitech Mouse-products and none of these were as good as the the Copperhead. The Diamondback is also better than every Logitech product.

Had a razor and it was the most painful thing i have ever used. my hand started to hurt cause of its shape.

I managed to break two logitechs in 3 years, so I got a Copperhead and am really pleased with it. Shape of the mouse is way different than Logitech ones (though I really like it being symmetrical), so it took awhile getting used to .. but now, it's just amazing.

I can't say which mouse is best, they're all good enough. Rest is about personal preference, how it fits in your hand and whether you like the whistles and cowbell it comes with.

You must be smashing it against the desk then, My last gaming mosue was a logitech dual eye optical. lasted 5 years without a hitch. I finnaly got rid of it cause i wore the buttons down so bad that when i opend it there was plastic dust in it.

I've owned a few logitech mice, and left them for a Razer Copperhead back in October. I have the CH paired with an exact mat and it's one hell of a combination!

Love this thing very good mouse. Very smooth action and perfesct weight. Only draw back is battery life. It comes with 2 batterys they last for about 4 hrs of game play.

I have a G7, & IceMat, went from getting PWN3D by choppers in Ghost while in tank, to being accused of being a "chopper raper" (I have a positive ratio in armour against heli on this map

I have a G5, before that I had/have a MX510. I was in for a mouse and pad upgrade so I skipped over the 518 and went straight for the G5. I won't go wireless with mouses... evar, especally for gaming! My old pad was a Ratpads GS, which was good, but required pledge or another wood dusting product to be sprayd on it like once a week for optimal performance... and man did the 510 with teflon feet slide across it when it was new and pledge'd up.

That old ratpads GS was better (smoother) then my new icemat, but it wore out after 6+ months of heavy gameplay, that's why I didn't purchase another plastic mat and went straight to the glass.

When I initally switched from the 510 to the G5 I was about to send the G5 back becaues I would die more (2000 dpi is really, really quick) and also, it was missing a "back" button for the thumb... but that is countered by a tilting wheel (the wheel rolls up, back and you can depress it left, right and down). Now the 2000 dpi is sex... so damn quick! Rotating the turret in a tank or humvvee requires only a slight movement, headshots are easier. Sometimes it's hard to click icons on my desktop, because of the 2000dpi + my 2005fpw's resolution (20.1" widescreen by dell).


I wont go for any mouse less then a G5 for gaming coupled with a good pad (icemat prolly, never tried func... but the gay tin holder I think would hurt my wrist in prolonged play times). Also, I'll never play without teflon feet, they help a lot.


IMO, best setup:
- Logitech G5
- Icemat
- xtrac eels teflon feet
All can be had on newegg.com for like 60 bux (guessing), and it will improve your gameplay substantially.

Forget everything everyone else is saying.

The G5 or G7 are the best of the best.
2000 dpi and adjustable mouse sensitivity right on the mouse itself.
Plus, the weights are pretty cool. Don't worry, there is no jiggling of the cartridge or anything. You can't even tell they're there (noise-wise).

I own the G5 by the way.
