7900 gtco256mb vs x1800 xt 512mb

The happy days are here again , sold my card and i can start all over again looking for a new one :) which is cool :)

I've got a budget limit of 350 euro's which is the same in $

i've been looking at all the reviews, but i just can't make up which is the best.

I've said to myself, don't go for ATI again, ATI is bad ! but it feels like that x1800 with it's 512mb is drawing me to it :P

Also i've been getting weird flickering graphics in d3d games with my x850 xt pe.......
in battlefield 2 and ghost recon advanced warfighter......

so i got told that's an ati problem...

I've got the a8n-e with an nforce 4 ultra chipset.... will this clash with an ati card ???

nope it wont, BUT nvidia cards do run better on it than ATI will

Id get the 7900GT its alot better card and is smaller (dimensions wise) so it wont take up as much room in your case.

i am goin to get the 1800xt myself. ati supposedly runns better on directx games which bf2 is. every review and test i have seen the 1800 either beats the 7900 or is close. and as soon as i find it i have seen a review of bf2 with a test of a 1900xtx 1900xt 1800xt 7900gt 7900gtx 7800's and a few others and the 1800xt had a higher frame rate by a decent margine either wit or with our the fancy stuff like aa and af on as soon as i ifnd the link i will post it for ya.

thanks im leaning towards the x1800xt...well i got two more weeks to decide but im really leaning to the x1800, and especially because of the 512 mb....

These cards are so close in performance you won't notice much of a difference. My advice is to go with the cheapest or the one that will give you the greatest peace of mind.

Your probably not going to notice a few frames difference. If the NV is cheaper and youve got an SLI enables board go with it, youve always got the option of SLI later on.

kk, but what i am worried about with the 7900 gt is it only having 256 mb ... well only, compared to 512 it isnt much :P

Get the 7900gt and volt mod it. Best bang for the buck, you'll be running close to the x1900xtx's.
Also if you do go that route be sure to get an aftermarket cooler.

Go with the x1800XT. Its faster, has better image quality, and the 512MB although practically unused now, can come in handy in a few games currently, and will be very nice down the road. With AA and AF on highish resolutions 512MB can become a factor in new games right now, so I think your money will be well spent on the better card.

The x1800XT is a dual slot solution, therefore is will be hotter, and maybe noiser but performance and image quality wise the x1800XT is the better card.

If you want you can get a 3rd party cooler if its too hot or noisy etc...

i was thinking about the x1900 gt now... its better than the x1800, only slightely though....

but about ATI, me and other ati users have been getting flickering graphics in a lot of d3d games..... thats what im worried about now....

the x1900 gt is luring me to it though :P but i dont want flickering graphics....
