I'm wondering what that thing will cost with 4MB cache... The Pentium 4 overclock looks good but they really cranked up the voltage to get it above 4Ghz. You also need a very good motherboard, a powerful PSU, some serious cooling and good RAM.

Extremely good considering the performance, lol. The 2.4Ghz Conroe, assuming from current XS benchmarks, should perform around a 3.0Ghz Dual Core A64. That, for the price of the Opteron 165. And thats from stock performance, they overclock like hell too. 2.9-3.0Ghz on air isn't uncommon on XS (experienced overclockers, but anyone could do it).

Yeah, I've been following the threads. The only thing that didn't impress me was the XTX 3Dmark 05 score of around 13k with the Core 2 processor at around 3Ghz. My Opteron scores over 13k at 2.8Ghz.

Other than that little inconsistency the results seem impressive.

If you look in tomshardware forums, it says that the processor consumes 280watts at IDLE power, so you are looking at a massive amount of power for that overclocked processor to 4.1ghz
