its an overly clocked intel same thing as a pos prescotts were, they double as heaters, your gonna need an air condictioned room to run that thing, at them speeds. Its intel, it currently sucks cause intel made it. There is no way that runs faster then a fx60 over clocked, and if it does then the fx57 has been over clocked past that, and an amd in the 4ghz range is insanely faster then a pentium in the 4ghz range. Non the less amd still rules fastest processor lol also 95% of people do not overclock therefore this is basicly useless.

        Can someone answer my question?

How well would this preform right out of the box? NO water cooling or anything?

In games it should perform just like any old P4 Intel at 2.66Ghz with 533mhz FSB.

damn that's a long read (did cheat it though :P), as a normal 2.xx ghz pentium d, but the thing that makes it interesting is you can overclock the hell out of it so it can compete with very high end processors...

but you need to oc it first to get better performance out of it than e.g a normal 3xxx amd...

None of this will matter when Conroe hits, lol.

Haha, indeed. This Fall I'm getting a new PC. 2.4GHz Conroe + G80. But obviously its all speculation on the G80 right now.

You know I'm a total performance fanboy, and the Conroe is as good as performance gets, so I'm a total Conroe fanboy right now :) Since AMD doesn't have anything until K8L at the end of 2007, Conroe is probably gonna be here a while.

I'll mostly likely get a Conroe if it performs like everyone is claiming for Vista. I'll also get a DX10 card to put in my current AMD.

K8L should be out mid 2007, maybe even spring. Regardless your point is well taken, looks like Conroe is going to be the platform of choice... however long it lasts is the only question.

I'm wondering what that thing will cost with 4MB cache... The Pentium 4 overclock looks good but they really cranked up the voltage to get it above 4Ghz. You also need a very good motherboard, a powerful PSU, some serious cooling and good RAM.
