Hey everyone, this is just a quick update about some of the issues we've had recently with the site.

Near the end of December our domain had expired. Tim and I had not realized this for longer than we care to admit. I just saw that the site up and died one day. He thought maybe something broke on the server we were on. Then he realized (after moving our site to an entirely different server location) that our domain had expired. Whoops.

We, once again, had to contact MyIS to renew it. By "we" I mean that Tim did that. No, I do not know why MyIS still controls that. No, I don't like it either. No, they do not host TGN. Yes, they did renew it this time unlike the case with CS-Nation's domain. So, the site came back after the DNS propagated back out.

These past few days we had some issues once again. This time it seems as though our site up and died out of the blue. I was posting something one second and the next, poof, gone. I attempted to do the typical "fix" of repairing the database tables and restarting MySQL and all that fun stuff in SSH. My knowledge about any of that is super limited and I do only what I have been taught by Tim some months ago. Problem was, I couldn't even connect via SSH. I tried restarting the server a few different times, which it did successfully, but the site still didn't load.

Tim found out that our IP address changed. It just up and changed. As the domain now resolved to the wrong IP, that had to be changed which meant having MyIS change it on their end. Thankfully a different solution was found so that if this somehow happens again, we won't have any problem with the site being inaccessible again.

After it came back today, I did notice a corrupt table in the database, which may have led to some users getting a database error when viewing most posts. It wasn't able to be corrected using the built-in repair/optimize feature in vBulletin so I had to fix it via SSH. It repaired it just fine and I believe everything is fine now.

Even with that said: If you encounter any issue, be sure to let me know. There are a number of ways to get in contact with me (Post a thread here, post a reply here, Twitter, email if you know it, etc.). Use any of them.

Also, the irony of this Tweet is not lost on me.
