it was turning to the dark side way before 3.7.0 RC was put into play... but I'm done with this discussion cause I don't want to add fuel to the fire.

I don't want to extend the discussion on this topic either but I think it needs to be said seeing as you refuse to see this. All of the social networking stuff does not have to be used. It is there for the people who want to network a bit more with the people on TGN or people who are interested in being able to write a blog. It's not in your face and quite frankly, you can easily pretend it's not there. Blogs, social groups, etc...all links on the navbar that aren't in your face. Obviously our main focus is and will always be gaming. But this just goes back to the fact it's smart to appeal to as many people as possible.

But anyway, back to the list.

Spore is so AWESOME!! It is not JUST the creature editor!! That is only a very small fraction of what this AMAZING game has to offer. I am deeply offended that a) you compared Spore to a "baby-maker" and b) you played the sims.

I'd like to finally address this mess below. I'm having difficulty understanding how or why a TGN staff member decides to flame me.

In case you did not understand me or your own post, this is a place for discussion and I posted my opinion just as you did. The difference is I did not choose to take my opinion to a personal level and attack someone with it.

Frankly, I'm surprized at your personal attack, SD.

Another point I'd like to make is that businesses do not become successful by appealing to the widest audience available. That is flawed logic which should be obvious to anyone who examines it. Most businesses become successful by catering to the needs of their clientele (or potential clientele). Many of those very successful ventures are focused on a very tight demographic.

How are the server rentals coming along for all those console games?

What Total is attempting to do is become more even more "Total". That's not an issue at all. However, the treatment we've PC gamers have gotten lately just stinks. It makes me not want to frequent these forums like I used to and that's no fun, either. I used to look forward to visiting here many times daily. Well, that's wearing as thin as the welcome...

IMO, the reason most of us came here was because of BF2 and PC gaming. You guys can decide to go a different direction if you want to, but if another PC-centric gaming forum comes along, you're toast if you're not serving the needs of your viewers.

I chose a platform for gaming and spent a ton more money investing in it. I rent gaming servers from MyIS. Why would I want to dilute my time or money investments by taking on another gaming platform?

                        I'm a PC gamer. :salute:

Isn't the point of a business to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible? Atleast for a website the goal is to generate interest among as many people as possible. No one made you click on this news post or made you look at the article, and even if there are console games listed, how does it affect you? Is your daily life ruined now that you saw something about a console?

Give us a break people. We discuss a few console things and people go crazy. No one is making you join in on the console discussion and there are still plenty of PC only topics/areas on these boards. But you have to realize, there are also many gamers that play consoles, or play both. Why can't we appeal to those as well? Those bashing consoles, have you even tried any console games really? If you have and don't like them, so be it, but there's no need to have a cow when something about a console game is posted on TGN.

I fail to see how we have turned our backs on PC gamers. All of the games we cover are PC (aside from GTAIV which will most likely be PC). Now how is that turning our back on PC? Posting console news just opens our audience to more and attracts more people that maybe aren't so hardcore into PC. It doesn't affect you guys, no one is forcing you to read or participate in console discussion. Some of you take this way too seriously. Whatever happened to when gaming was meant to be fun? Regardless of what system it's on...

One of the most common mistake a company can do is become stagnant and too focused on their current position on the market. Youre giving economical advice to a group which services youre yourself using right now are free and non-profit. MyIS has kept these two worlds perfectly separate, and the proof of it is the fact that even today, here, right now, MyIS server rentals and even TGL are as if they are on proverbial Mars, or catered by an entirely different company. They expand, because they want the community to expand, fresh blood and new members and ideas refresh the community and keep it entertaining. Speaking of stagnation and being too focused on current market position, it has lead to lower sales for a whole tonload of companies, from all areas of economic spectrum. But a close example would be CAPCOM and their Resident Evil series. They eventually had to drastically rearrange the vision of the series because sales were dropping below 1M per title. On the other hand, youve got the ever-evolving model of Konami, with its MGS title. Where the franchise constantly picks up new trends and ideas and keeps itself fresh, even though its a 10+ years old game in its basics.

On the outside, the stagnation of the policies airlines had not more than 15 years ago lead to a reovlutionary outburst in small airlines which provided the service the stagnated companies refused to give. Hence the birth of such world-known airlines as Ryanair and EasyJet.

Its not that TGN is focusing on consoles now, their focus on PC aspect of gaming has not changed, and eventually, really, in actuality, depends on the fresh new blood they bring in (because the staff is mostly comprised of community members, and not paid college graduates who studies forum management and troll/flamer supression). Hence the expansion. BF2142 and BF2 are a stagnating market, and you should thank your rear that TGN staff isnt doing somekind of a "revolutionary change" in order to solve a problem. Instead, we have a moderately expanding community with its roots stricktly in PC gaming.

Dont believe me? Mod support is stronger than ever.

Personally, I see TGN as a great business model. The fact that you see MyIS creating amazing features, for free, and constantly expanding while maintaining such costly features like TGL, the video upload thingy and their own alternative to photobucket, means that with expansion has come a lot of munnehzzzz, not to mention some really good new folks.

That's a whole lot of words. I'm seeing that you're generally impressed with TGN.

I'm giving economic advice because I feel things are going in a direction I don't want them to go. That's fine. I just need to go away and let the youngsters who already know everything figure it out on their own.

                            I'm done.

I am, they are fair to everyone and have managed to introduce changes and upgrades without changing anything for anyone who came here years ago, for a very specific reason.

As such, I dont see your frustration. Youre leaving a community because theres a news set of some community member, who made his own TOP10 anticipated titles, spanning through all platforms instead of PC? This should not concern you at all, and in fact, should give you an opportunity to make your own article, regarding your favoured platform. Knowing TGN policies, if its well constructed and entertaining, it will be on the front page.

TGN is not abandoning PCs. The proof is in mod support and the new titles being included into the menu. If you want an exclusively PC-oriented community, then thats a problem you have. Youre leaving TGN for the wrong reasons.

Like Chris has said we are not "abandoning" PC gamers whatsoever. we have been giving the same amount of support. We are just "expanding" we have a plentiful staff here, some of us are into gaming news in general like me. Since im a future communications/journalism major.

We are covering as much as we can. Im not even a console gamer. I search very often all the major gaming, and news sites for as much news as I can, and Sniper does this as well. If you guys see something newsworthy about the PC or anything gaming. Then submit it we do have that area for you to bring stuff to our attention.

We are still just testing the water with doing our own articles, features, exclusives, and interviews. We hope to have more in the future.

No one is being left behind. we are just opening up.
