check out our website - www.nations-at-war.com

    you will need:-

    the standalone mod
    mappack#1
    mappack#2
    mappack#3

i know it's quite a lot to download, but there's so much to our mod, as well as so many excellent levels, i think you'll find it's worth it!

It has quite a few cool ideas but to be brutaly honest a lot of maps are ... well ... more an attempt than an achievement.
A shame single map download has been removed. Because if you set up a NAW server and put the best/better maps in rotation peeps have to dl +1.8gig because those maps are spread in the different mappacks (+/-600MB each).
      My favs are
      • Steel Thunder (tho v.3 ctds)
      • Bocage 2005
      • Heart Attack Ridge
      • Desert Rats(not v2!)
      • Gazala (tho it still lags)
      • Village Lost
      • Vulcan Island

those are pretty cool. (right, no converted vanilla maps pls :p )

nevertheless nice work, keep it up :)

        i'm glad you like it.

there are only 4 Dev's, and only 1 of those is a map maker.

i am working on uploading all of the single maps to my site.

the reason we made mappacks is because we had thousands of people complain that there was no mappack, and they did not want single map download.

        obviously you can't please everyone.

Yeah. I thought the single map (self-installer) was a far better system than huge map packs, that's why I made them. But you can't please all people all of the time.

I am still gonna make single map installers for the rest of the maps.

Gazala v2 is a lite version. Same full flavour without all the calories.

Looks good, but I normally wait for one full release before I download a community mod. I want everything and anything included in the release as part of one installer.

I really like the Cobra skin, suits it very well. And the snow maps looks great, something to look forward to.

            PEACE

The mod is continually evolving to suit the needs of the weekly tournament that is played and as such there is no one single definative release. The team strive constantly for balance in the mod and this is why maps are modded to suit play.:)

As a member of the NAW tournament i am perhaps somewhat biassed but having played this mod (especially on tournament day with its strict C&C structure and planning) i wouldn´t go back to regular BF2 where all is chaos and stat whoring.
A great bunch of people to play with, many varied maps to play on and NO statwhoring
Long live the Modding community i say..there are some superb looking mods coming out,NAW being no exception to this.

Is this mod more realistic than vanilla BF2 or is it just new models, textures, weapons etc. and the same ol arcade s*it gameplay?

Since when arcade = s*it? As long as a game is fun (and BF2 is) then i'll play it, simulation or not.

Looks like it would be fun. BUt what if i wanted to just play vanilla bf2, would it hinder me from doing that? Or can it switch between the 2 w/o having to uninstall anything?

Re: Nations at War 3.9 Released

3.8 was pretty good, 3.9 is better. Yes there are alot more vehicles. The MAPs are awesome and this mod is the best out to date. Could it be better, probably but I am not a modder so I can't say how.

We (=CDU=) are running a 40 person server with the 3.9 version and are testing to see which maps are best.

The AA is awesome and makes plane whoring very difficult. The vehicles are a lot faster and can actually climb hills. The kits are very flexible with lots of gun choices without all that ranking crap. If you are tired of BF2 I would suggest giving this a try.
I think the helos are more maneuverable but still need work - they drop like a rock if you come off the power and dive - just like BF2 - but they spin faster. The helos also have AA missles and lockon AG missles - as do the jets - even single seaters.

NAW actually launches from desktop, not from ingame browser case EA forgot to allow for that - amazingly basic function from BF1942 and Vietnam - but I guess EA doesn't want you playing mod yet.

So if you want to play BF2, you would have to close the NAW game and relaunch BF2 - no need to uninstall anything.

You can play both. The NAW mod has an icon that starts the mod or you can start it through the BF2 menu (custom games or something). Real easy.

Re: Nations at War 3.9 Released

The helis have lock on air to ground missiles ? Really? All i saw was the normal rockets and the 4 a2a missiles.

I agree they need a lot of work though, an awful lot. The AA is way over the top on the maps, also theres hand held stingers ya ? One stinger missile takes you all the way down to 4 bars of armour. They seem to ignore flares at random as well. You really need to up the armour on the attack helis.
Also I think you should bring back TV Missiles, the gunner seat isnt exactly so much fun to sit in.

The tanks are brilliant in the mod, this coming from someone who doesnt like tanks in normal bf2. Possibly too many though :p. Mobile AA is very fast moving, i love that as well but even more for helis to contend with.

The infantry game is great all the weapons they have in the kit. The assault kit is how it should be in bf2 vanilla. The high amount of stamina is excellent makes moving around on foot far less tedious. The silenced G36C is a thing of beauty. The famas skin needs a bit of work in my opinion though.

The mod is fun and looks like it has huge potential anyway keep up the good work.

Oooh Vulcan Island map is brilliant btw.
