    Re: Project Reality Mod Update

The thing with registering is that it's not really a problem
    - for example -
PoE, they also release A LOT of awsome WIP stuff that is only for registered user too; but they also release A LOT of finished stuff pretty much each week. It balances things out.

    -But-
PR has much more WIP stuff than Finished stuff - it's not balanced - plus it doesn't attract as many new fans, because they don't see many "cool" pictures.

That said, PR keeps everything as sort of a secret and away from community.

I dont see whats so hard about spending 5 minutes to register to a site , you cant be that lazy

Anyway, I really enjoy the PR mod, and its far better than BF2, but what most people seem to forget is that the mod that is out now is only the Mini-Mod, its a just a taste of whats to come so you cant really complain that they havent added anything like new vehicles and such (except the littlebird) but its a very big step up from BF2.

The WIPs they just provided, and the tons of others that are already there are worth the register, which requires little effort to do.

LOL! Two things here: First, you underestimate just how lazy I (and many others) can be! Secondly, most people just are not going to go register on "yet another" site to see some pretty pictures. These should be made available without that sort of ****e tbh. (Btw, censorship sucks....)

          Agreed 100%.

Tbh, I'm registered on far too many sites that I never visit or become activily involved in already. I don't have the time, or inclination, to bother my arse registering on "yet another" board (as above). If they're not willing to make these pictures public, then I'm not willing to go out of my way to view them.

          Rory.

The point of Project Reality is to create realistic gameplay that promotes teamwork. The war is hypothetical. Creating an insurgent team would throw the balance in favor of the US and future British forces. The whole dynamic of gameplay would have to be changed to create an insurgent team. The BF2 engine isn't the best engine to implement insurgents on because there are no civilian bots running around, so the insurgents would have to face the US head on, and lets face it, the guys with helis, tanks, and apcs are going to have an easy time mowing down the guys with just AKs and RPGs. If you want a good insurgents mod, check out Insurgency which is an upcoming mod for HL2.

That being said, I realize Project Reality may not be as public friendly as it could, and that needs to be changed. You have to remember that Project Reality is a mini-mod at the moment and only has a small team of dedicated members using their spare time to work on the mod. Mods like POE can pump out so much media because they have been around longer and as such have a larger team. They also don't have to worry about releases at the moment, instead they can focus on creating things which will look good in the media. Project Reality is working on releases, trying to take suggestions into account, and constantly testing every gameplay change. The mini-mod of Project Reality really focuses on gameplay features, so there isn't much to show off, and these changes are time consuming and require a lot of testing to ensure balanced gameplay while still retaining a fun factor.

I tried to register and a confirmation e-mail was never sent to my account. Tried again same thing. Forget it. It was a pain.

shame this is my fav. mod out to date for BF2. It's quite addictive.

May i note that most of what is in PR is in code form. All the BF2 weapons need to be recoded, reworked with new sounds and all the rest just to put them into shape where as POE, they need to remake everything so they need to focus much more modeling, skinning, and generally everything. From there BFv version of there mod they have had a strong, skilled, big team that is ready to do this hence they have a update every week. PR has nothing like the same size of team but still dose have some very skilled ppl in it.

Now as ive said above, most of what PR has done is in code forum. How can PR really show off there code? Take a screenshot of notepad with all the code on the page? no that is really not going to interest any 1. The only way to view the code is to play the mod, and see how the weapons handle ect. Now v0.25 has done and practically all of the normal BF2 weapons are recoded the devs are now consternating on getting the British army additions done for v1 and getting a few extra game modes and weapons like the SPR ect done for v0.3

I hope that exsplains the above question.

The point of PRMM is not to get the BF2 Weapons as realistic as possible so they all handle like the real thing, recoil, fire power, range, accuracy ect.

Do you really think that putting terrorists in is going to make it realistic and fun at the same time? If you have not tried the mod for more than 3 days playing it and not tried it at all or only tried it for less than 10min before you thought it was crap because you are so use to the arcade game play of vBF2 that you cant change your game play to get use to the new way of fighting then you really don't know what this mod has to offer.
