Been reading the BF 2142 topics for days, bout time I throw in my 2 cents.

First off, this is BFV2. I notice that ALOT of people who posted probably never even played a BF game before BF2, so they wouldn’t know about Nam. This game is a "stepping" stone to BF3. If a mod feels that the new engine tweaks will help it grow then it will switch to BF 2142 (IE: A Gundam mod). Most mods and players will stay on BF2, the mods will not switch over, they didn’t switch over with BFV. DC, Pirates, FH and EoD all stayed with BF42 rather then switch over to Bf 2142. BF42 was still alive well after BFV was released...people STILL play BF42 and its mods.(Jump on the Wolf FH server whenever I feel like having a game of FH)

Second, some of you don’t like the whole sci fi setting. I’m neither a big fan of modern combat nor am I a big fan of Vietnam. But I am a huge fan of WW2. I did not complain when I heard about BFV and BF2, I bought them and enjoyed them both. Simply put, if you don’t like the game, do not buy it. As for the person who mentioned that BF2142 is aimed toward a younger crowd. Explain this.

Third, allot of you mentioned Quake Wars. I am praying to Buddha/Allah/Christ/Krishna that QW does not end up like Joint Ops and Soldner. For those that say QW will own BF 2142....how could you say that without even trying the game? Same goes for you lot that accuse QW. IMO the release of both games will be great to the Online FPS community. EA will have to kick it up a notch to produce quality updates so that they can contend with QW, possible even release free content if QW does. With that situation only one person wins, the gamers like you and me. I will be purchasing both QW and BF 2142.

And everyone bitches and moans when yet another WWII game is announced, BF2142 is going to be awesome and I would bet that at least 60% of the people saying they're boycotting EA will buy this game the day it's released.

One thing's for sure E3 should be very interesting this year.

The impact to the gaming community will be to further serve a wide range of fans. The WW2 fans, modern operations and near future. I relish the variety of challenges.

You're being very naive.

You really think they're going to put ANY effort into BF2 when they have a potential profit-maker in the works????

They'll release a gesture 1.3 patch that will probably create more bugs than we've ever seen - perhaps even on purpose so people buy BF2142 in desperation.
- Not that any true Battlefield fans would be interested in lasers, hovercraft, cloaking, blah blah blah.... what a load of rubbish.

I'm interested.

They will have, I bet, at least 2 more patches and then, yes they will devote more time to this. It's called progress.

No one has to buy it but if you were a true BF fan you would.

Yea, no ****! I stopped playing BF2 once 1.2 came out.

I wonder if people will be able to fire their futuristic weapon while jumping in the air? It would seem like by the year 2142 that we, as evolved humans, will have created the ability to use our finger and leg muscles at the same time. Hopefully, eventually, we'll get that whole, 'rub your tummy and pat your head' thing down.

Im just gonna throw my two cents in real quick. Unless I see something damn cool about this that I havent played before in BF2, I will not buy, support or encourage this. There are enough crappy future type games out there and I have no intent on going to the next one.

However, my main reason for this is because, I short, they still have left us with an unfinished product. I could go on and on about everything, but if you play BF2, you know what I'm talking about.

I will continue to play BF2, Gal Civ 2, and oblivion, and then quakewars when it hits, vote with your pocket book guys. I use to love tony hawk games and now they are sh...

EA will have to prove me wrong after the game comes out for me to enjoy and play this.

Way to soon to come with a new BF game imho, BF2 isn't even a year old yet.. But typical EA to get as much money out of a popular franchise asap.. This very much feels like BF:V (BF1942->BF:V, BF2->BF2142) which also flopped.. I'll stick to BF2, and wait for the real "next-gen" BF game that will undoubtily appear after this..

And unless it proves to be better then ET:QW, I'll go with ET:QW end of this year.. A mix between the Quake-universe and BF-gameplay sounds great to me..

I don't see modern soldiers bunnyhopping over the battlefield IRL while firing their guns.. Gamedevelopers have all my support getting rid of stupid bunnyhoppers in a game where it doesn't fit, and in BF2 it doesn't fit.. It's not needed to jump and fire in BF2 for gameplay, but if you really think it was you are probably better off playing games like Quake or UT etc.. There you can use all your l33t movement while firing skills, and it also fits the game..
