So not only is BF 2142 not well received on these forums but other popular website comment sections like Shacknews also have an overwhelming negative response to this game. Looks to me that EA/DICE just handed over their loyal fanbase to Splash Damage after burning them one too many times. I for one can't wait for Quake Wars to be released, never again will DICE see any support from me.

I wouldnt mind this as an expansion pack, not a whole new game. Too soon for a new game.

Ok before I read this long thread I must say this:

1. At first glance the idea seems impressive......until you realize that its going to compete with quake wars.

2. This doesn't seem to be a real sequel. The graphics engine is almost definately BF2's engine. So this is just a glorified mod most likely. Geez, they really are trying to milk this thing for as much as possible hmm?

If I were them I would scrap this project and wait til quake wars comes out. Then see what the competition is doing. Then work on BF3. You can set it in the future fine but at least come out with a next gen engine. Its too soon for this.

What would be cool is that they release 2142 bf as a free game and charge us for booster packs for it if they must. :|:

if this is true, I'll stick to bf2..... till the next jump in fps as this looks not to be it but a rehash of bf2....

Anyone play C&C Red Alert, that what i kept seeing, except not a rts but FPS.

That's what game companies do. They look at what the most popular themes are and strike up a tent. Kinda screws the mod teams, though.
