Except your forgetting that bf1942 was finised and had a final patch. BF:V at least had a newer engine.

This does look like a mod, most people agree. Others are blinded by insigificant game features.
And most importantly, it doesn't have that excitement that BF2 had when those first videos were released... It doesn't nothing for me.
It's the Bf1942 vs Vietnam repeating and BF2 servers are still going to hold the crowd after the dust settles.
I expect the solution may have something to do with a stats transfer program, but would only appeal to smallest kind of the audience.

P.S. For all those fans, how do you know that mechs aren't going to be cut, would you buy it then?

BF2142...Deal or No Deal...I say No deal.

BF2142 will most likely be the end of the series. If I wanted to play in space we would be playing Quake or something. I guess it'll be time to get back to America's Army for awhile.

God knows I'm tired of World War II games too.

I did read all of these posts.. (yeah i know, but its like the morning paper).
However, it appears QuakeWars EnemyTerritory........will come out victorious. But, it might come down to who can release first. If QW comes out first, I got a feeling BF2142 will be the end of the BF series.
Instead of space stuff, they shoulda went with a more grandeur fighting arena, to be trusted as a BF title.
Anyone play ROME TOTAL WAR. I hate top down games, but that rocks. Could you imagine BF series do a ROMAN style game, or a Storm the castle style game, complete with knights in shinning armor?
I could see the advertisments now...

I would have no problem with this game if it weren't part of the Battlefield franchise. For me the Battlefield name stands for quality. All the weapons and vehicles in this are totally fictional, nothing I can relate to, not like an AK47 and an M1A2 Abrams, Cobra's etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if DICE want to branch out and do different games, different genres other than FPS, but EA put pressure on them to use the weight of the BF name, solely because it will sell games.

I don't think there was any need to move into future battles, there is still a whole heap of ideas in present day/near future that they could of based a BF game on. For starters, naval warfare was completely cut from BF2, there's one idea to look at. I really like the idea behind Ghost Recon 3, setting the whole game in one location, Mexico City.

This should be a reduced price product. I wouldn't pay more than &#163;20 for it. As far as I'm concerned it's like a semi-sequel. Not the real deal. Battlefield 3 may still be round the corner, 2007/8.

very early for a "new game" lol this is just a mod, they should leave this kind of modding to community instead, and do some console work or whatever...

- support the Modding community, if i didnt allready own BF1942, i would have gone out and bought a copy just for Desert Combat, it was that good!

But the game was finished for awhile. If they added certain things to an older engine to change the overall game it is still considered a new engine. The system requirements did change to accomodate the changes.

Well saw the video. If this is real I won't buy it.

1)I don't like Sci-Fi shooters
2)I like the BF-franchise because of the historic (and modern) settings.
3)This is a mod for bf2
