Dude, Im sure EA/Dice have enough money to higher expert people to make these patches, there is no excuse for how the lag takes over the game on most PC's no matter what speed. Im just wondering, they should know that we can wait for patches as long as they're useful. I, myself have not seen any bugs, but the major lag I get on all servers made me forget what was wrong with the game on release.
Exactly. All this comes to one thing, money. More resources/staff would get these bugs fixed faster... really simple if you ask me. Its just that they think this is "good enough" which BS.

This sounds like the high level manager point of view.
The truth is that 9 mothers will not deliver a baby in 1 month!
You can’t hire more people to patch something that they didn’t create.
I think that the key issue is the quality of the patches – hire more testers DICE!
I love the amazing way EA have coded the game to make some materials now possible to penetrate ... mainly the way my AT rockets now fly straight through Tanks and do no damage.
War is bad so it is much more fun running around unable to do damage, maybe they should introduce a new class, the "Tree Hugger".
This new class could carry a few incense sticks, wear a tie dyed uniform and go prone with a blunt for rounds at a time......
I really wish people will stop moaning about what the patch does or does not fix.
Hell if Microsoft hotfix XP and 2003 server EVERYDAY stop whining about a game that in my mind is far more complex than the OS it runs on, think about it, take a 64 player map, how complex it must be for the server software and client software to sync up all those players and deal with multiple unknown Broadband connections via a multitude of ISPs across the planet. ITsNOT LIKE BROWSING A WEBSITE!
EA/DICE have given us a good product, it might not be perfect or never will be (has any MS OS - NO!) what they have given us is hours of fun and great gameplay, great graphics and realism, the ablity to jump in choppers and planes as well as run around in squads and blow the crap out of eachother.
Imagin this sort of game that allowed all this and the complexaty and map sizes, in 1996 this was a pipe dream, yeah we had Quake and Unreal - which were great multiplayers but far from perfect and no where near as complex or large.
I for one love BF2 even if it can be buggy and laggy if you step back and see what goes into it, the fact that 9 games out of 10 are lag free and play great for me more than make up for the fact that 1 game might be laggy (which is more than likley down to my ISP)
And for the red tag bug..I never saw it at all last night when I was playing, but I'm going to guess the v1.2 audio and AT rocket misfire bugs were likely related to the changes they made to try and decrease the red name bug...so maybe they reversed those changes in v1.21.
I really wish people will stop moaning about what the patch does or does not fix.

Im happy.
And here's a prime example of EA's target customer base, people who dont give two hoots about the quality of service or gameplay. They just LOVE the pretty graphics and not much else.
Windows XP is nigh bullet proof, MS release hotfixes that actually work, and NO BF2 is nothing like as complex as an operating system.
Sweet jesus... With these kinds of comments you can see why EA/DICE are misguided sometimes.
Although that's no excuse for BF2's current condition.

Why is it that some think in terms of the more people that fix the problems the less time it takes to fix. A small example. You have a coding problem (a bug maybe) that you estimate should take 100 man hours to fix. Well that's great we hire 100 coders and fix the problem in just one hour. Let's go on, hire 200 and we're all done in half an hour.
NO you need to rethink what goes on in the background of the game physics.
Nothing to do with pretty graphics, i think the game is solid, gives me over 160hours and counting of fun play.
Im a network engineer/installation engineer 10 years in the job, MCSE qualified, CCNA. XP and 2003 are FAR from perfect! I think BF2s technology as a game is fantastic in what it allows us to do.
If I am one of "EAs Target based cutomers" then great, Im having fun and so are most players of the game.
No amount of bitching on this site makes any difference to how many bugs are fixed, most people seem to be just full of negative comments all the time.
So what its not perfect, I have paid £50 for BF2 and Special forces - whats £50? for months of fun, I have mates that shove £££ up there noses every weekend and have nothing but hangovers and comedowns.
Step back and take a look, if you really think its so bad, then stop playing.
If you stop playing and more people stop playing and complain then maby they will take more notice, but if you carry on playing then all negative comments are just hypocritical as your making no difference other that spouting off your mouth.

Give the guys a break!
Erm... no.
If they did hire a programmer per issue, the game could realistically be fixed in a matter of days.
They wouldnt even need to hire testers, they could easily contact a high profile clan.
There reallly are few excuses for their quality of aftersales support, that's why you never see them apologising with explanations of what went wrong - because they just arent giving it priority or budget.
The life and soul of battlefield has been totally lost in a huge corporate monster.
Anyone else fancy trying America's Army???
Personally I'm going back to play 1942 & or Desert Combat.

Chin up and ciao mein! :)
You make some very good points, I cant deny that, but I guess the main reason I'm sooo frustrated is because like you say - the game engine is brilliant, is deserved of the awards it has to it's name... but....
It's so close to being so much more...
I'm guessing you never played 1942 or the mod that inspired BF2 - Desert Combat???
If it had half the fun factor & skill requirements that DC had it'd be just amazing.
Is that MR2 turbo charged by the way?
I've 'charged a mazda Mx5 - 230ish bhp!
Zoom-Zoom, as they say!

I agree it can be better (and no doubt will eventually will) Im sure BF1942 was moaned about when it was new and a few years on am I right in thinking its nearly there to being bang on?
Ive not played either(cant find 1942 for sale no more )
I think everone should just get on the servers and have fun and what will be will be.
Re MR2.
Yeah its a turbo only 250HPish@the wheels, but fast enough The car in front is a Toyota as they say
I saw some MX5 Turbo conversions the other day , very sweet.
What is fun to read is people asking if it's official when i downloaded directly from EA.COM, is that so hard to realise that EA.COM is an ELECTRONIC ARTS official DOMAIN NAME and if the file is there it's because is official ?
The other fun thing is all the lame complains about the game and the patches.
Everybody says bad things about Microsoft and Windows but all of you use the Microsoft products, why ? Because Uncle Bill did a damn easy sh*t to use, it have some bugs, yeah, like persons nothing is perfect. Battlefield 2 is the same, ffs, is the most played Firts Person Shooter of all time, the BF2 servers are all in the top10 Game-Monitor servers list. I played Quake and Urban Terror (Q3A Mod) and the bugs are regular things in games, that's why ID Sofware release a lot of point releases. It's not a Problem of EA, it's a problem of all Software Houses, because games are done by HUMANS, and we are not perfect, IS THAT SO DAMN HARD ?
Play and have fun, and don't complain so much... JUST PLAY THE FU**ING GAME!!
In real life wars, a gun hangs sometimes, so, let's release a new way to kill, let's stop using guns (they hang sometimes)... let's kill with the great and powerfull "woodstick" again, because they don't have those stupid bugs... GEEZ
I don't even know where to begin..
First off it is our right to complain about the actual bugs in this game. I paid 70$ for this game, it better as hell work.
Second of all, if the patches didn't screw anything up, rather they fix things, then maybe the gamers would JUST PLAY THE F-ING GAME...
Read up on the issues before you post nonsense. I still don't agree that they should have touched any of the "balance" issues until all the bugs had been worked out (through extensive patch testing) but it's too late now, and from what I've gathered is another extent of DICE and EA's pressure to release the patch before it should be.
