Aerial Combat v3.1 Final Released

Agent-K-01 has informed us here at TotalBF2 that he has released the latest version of his popular map Aerial Combat. He has listened to the feedback that our community has provided and tweaked his map for this latest release. Here's what's new in this version:
The USS Freedom has tracked a stolen US Aircraft Carrier (carrying F35-B fighters) to Passu Keah island in the south China Sea. Here Chinese forces are attempting to re-fit the newly named Kuan Ti, and re-enforce their positions on the island. US forces have been ordered to retake the Kuan Ti, and sieze control of all chinese assets in the area.
• Added 2 Seater Jets to both teams in 64 Player
• Replaced on F35B with an F-18 for both 32 & 64 Player
• Improved Sky, Water & Fog visuals
• Improved terrain under water in lagoon and around islands.
• 16/32/64 Player game modes with varied combat areas and vehicles.
• Added additional Anti-Air to roof of Resort on 64 Player
• 16 Player map does not utilise carriers (Ground/Parachute based).
• Improved Vegetation detail slightly.
• Modified Flag Capture times and conditions.
• Created destroyable UAV and SAT Trailer for US team in 16 Player.
• Reduced size of download zip to approx 20MB.

looks nice, but when i install this mod, how does my bf2 difference this mod and vanilla? and i launch bf2 using xfire, but it doesnt even detect bf2:sf because sf is kinda like a mod , it odesnt have its own engine. so wat should i do, i really like air combat .

This isn't a mod. Just a custom Map . You install it in your BF2 Levels folder (instructions included in readme file) and run it as a Multiplayer map.

For those of you wanting to test this out by yourself (capping flags etc) you can create a local multiplayer game and then type the following command into your console in game: sv.numPlayersNeededToStart 1
The map will restart with a new round and without that annoying "The round will start...." text on the screen. Hope everyone likes the map! :)

Re: Aerial Combat v3.1 Final Released

I have your beta version installed on both my local machine as well as my unranked dedicated server. The beta version runs fine but when I try to install this version it prompts me to overwrite the existing file in the Levels folder.

I have tried to install it by overwriting the file and I have tried to delete the beta and then install clean. When I try to start it on my local server it still says beta and the map looks the same. I have not updated it on my dedicated server yet when I install it on my local machine and connect to the dedicated server it allows me to connect giving me the impression I am still running the beta.

If you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know. I also wanted to know if you got the email I sent you about using the map in the contest I am sponsoring over at incognitogaming.net.

Thanks -Chronic Buzz

Are you wanting to run both versions side by side? (beta and final). I noticed that the TOP GUN comp is using the Beta version. If so, I don't think this is possible, as the maps are the same name not only by the directory but by several internal files.

I deleted my local copy of the Beta and added the Final version on my PC localy ([BITS] djnapkin did the same for our Squad server) before playing, and have not any issues with it. The version in the map description that you see in the map list (and as the map loads) is controlled by the "Aerial_Combat.desc" file in the INFO directory (the only directory not Zipped inside the Aerial_Combat folder). If there is an F-15 Bomber on the carrier in game, you are running the Final Version (Client & Server.zip's) but may not have copied over the old INFO directory files within the Aerial_Combat folder on either the server or Client? The Final version maps have a small Blue BITS logo on them and the Map name & description are 3.1.

You've actually raised a point that I forgot to cover in the readme. Deleting the BETA and Installing the map, and version conflicts. I'm not sure how the Server & Client negotiate Map versions (or even if they descriminate between versions at all), but obviously the Server and client need to be the same to ensure there are no issues.

If you are still having Issues PM me and I'll help you get it happening

PS - The TOP GUN comp looks cool! I'm honored that your using my map for it :)

Hello!

This map is awesome, but sadly there are no servers that is running the map.
It's a great map for fighting, since it's small the battles will be more intensive than the big original maps.

Off topic: What does AA (in graphic settings) do? I changed it to 2x and I don't think I noticed any diffrence - in lag nor graphic. <- Lies all lies, after playing a little now I noticed BIG diffrence. It's a pure pleasure to look at the L8 now for example. Everything is alot smoother. And it doesn't lag, why haven't I changed this before?!
