If Dice drop EA I'll be happy, they need to find a good publisher like Activision. But Dice also need a new management, they need to get someone in who will actually do the job properly. Meh, I'd get ET:QW over BF2142 down to all the problems I've had with BF2. It's just not worth it.

I think its a great idea....from both a business and gamers standpoint.

Here is what I mean:

The FPS genre has game titles that cover a broad spectrum

Present Day
Futuristic
Historical
Sci-Fi/Fantasy

If this BF2142 does come into being, I am sure it will attract alot of those Halo, Mechwarrior, and possibly UT players...but doesnt leave the good ol' ground pounders from others FPS arena's behind (as in us from the previous BF titles). In essense, we would be exchanging a tank for a mech and a chopper/plane for other types of flying vehicles.

In the end, it really doesnt matter if it walks or drives...just so long as the fun & balanced gameplay dynamics are there. Some people will like it and some people wont.

What is important is that the more gamers from a genre a title can draw in, the more money the company makes and the more titles they can pump out. Thats just being business minded.

Of course there is a bright side for us (the gamers) as well. The more gamers it draws in, the larger our community will get.

nobody likes medieval, i think thatd be cool, castles, hand to hand combat, archers, no magic or anything, have it so 2-3 ppl need to use catapults to work them,horses, damn so many things... ive always wanted to try knife fights in bf2 but cause everyone loves their precious stats nobody would play to have fun

To EA/Dice's defense, almost all of the wars have been used up. COD2 has WWII. UT and ETQW has futuristic. I don't think WWI would be terribly fun. Ghost Recon 3 has near future warfare so either way EA/Dice would be competing for a style/era.

Granted it could offer different gameplay I'd rather see EA/Dice get a bit more creative. Haven't tried out any mods for BF2 yet but I would mind seeing maybe something like Battlefield: War in the skies. A game with more focus on air combat instead of the waiting in line only to get tked flying now.

I agree, that would be sweet if it was focused mainly on air combat.

wow i sure hope this issnt the next BF cuz that is going to be gay. i will never buy any type of gay future crap game like taht in my life. I sure hope you all agree taht this game is going to be gay as hell and i insist that you dont buy it. This game would also attract tons of even more little kids witch i cant stand playing with.
I will pray every night when i go to bed that they decide not to make this game.

the game is called bf 2142,its obviously going to be in the futur, and little kids play the game now, how does the futur attract them more, i dont see whats so bad about it and in fact its probably going to be better then bf2

Frankly this looks like crap to me. It looks like BF2 with mechs. How short-sighted of EA. Where are capital ships? Why the limited idea of ice-age Earth? What a brain-dead idea. Hell, I would have preferred BF1942 all over again with the new engine.
